Hell no to buying a Chinese EV, but that is the power train the Tacoma should have had.

I wondered what a Frontier from Hyundai would look like. Chinese EV are supposed to become a big thing in Central and South America. But tariffs on CEV in the US, the big 3 or at least GM will be selling CEV in the US under their marque.

Look up the KIA Tasman and that is what I would imagine it would look like.

I don't think I would buy a BYD but definitely wouldn't anywhere near that price. If toyota built a PHEV tacoma I would assume it would be mid to high 40s base. BYD would need to be 15k-20k cheaper to even consider it.

    rav4 28,500 msrp, rav4 prime 43500 msrp,
tacoma 31500 msrp, tacoma prime 46,600?

    No joke,

but which part, the price of a tacoma prime? If it adds 15k to a rav4 why not the same or even say 20k to a tacoma then it's just over 50k. Why would anyone buy a BYD over a toyota?

Or just a joke that I would even consider a BYD? I probably wouldn't but I would like it to be an option keep toyota in check price wise. But the big thing with BYD was the price of there cars this truck is just ridiculous. there cars were to be around 10-20k.

So your basic TRD OR with a simple upgrade package or 2 is coming in around 50K or more in the real world (not the starting price no one ever sees world) and that leads you to believe that a Tacoma Prime would be priced at 50K? I would guess your Tacoma Prime would be priced just under the Trailhunter...

I don't care what anyone thinks about the Chinese knockoff truck one way or another.

I thought it was around 33 for base XC RWD and no options. I guarantee you can't build a Toyota Tacoma for under $32k. I tried but Toyota's site won't let me build anything at the moment.

Exactly my point...the basic 2wd 2 door trucks coming in just under 40K without any add ons...no way the Prime is going to land below a naturally aspirated TRD OR 4x4 Premium.

I'm not complaining about price, I was just pointing out that $46,600 is probably not going to be anywhere close to what a Tacoma Prime would be. Which was why I asked it that was a joke, when I saw that price...lol

Missed the 4x4, I thought he was talking about the prerunner for some reason. Same point...2 door 4x4 38K...Tacoma SR5 4x4 with no other options $41,895....Tacoma Prime $46,600...lol.

So if you look at the actual flex index numbers and you will see that the SDM is needed if you want comparable performance to the third gen. You will need articulation even if you rig isn’t strictly a rock crawler. Plenty of overlanders will find themselves in scenarios where they need good articulation out on rough washed out FS roads.

Again the platform lost articulation going to a fully boxed frame and stretching the wheelbase, rear coils or not.

4th gen RTI score with stabilizer: 411

4th gen RTI score without stabilizer: 489

    3rd gen RTI score: 477

As you can see without that SDM the 4th gen will have worse articulation than a third gen. So IMO it’s a necessary upgrade if you plan to use your truck off-road or are familiar with the 3rd gens level of articulation.

Good assessment....which adds another layer of cost to getting a package with the sway disconnect to get what you already had in a 3rd gen.
