Hello all, i am in the state for a Rainier summit attempt. Planning to explore Olympic and North Cascade areas afterwards.

anyone have any recommendations on campsites? I am pulling a trailer so turn around space is ideal.

also, hiking/backpacking trails to waterfalls, overlooks etc.

    Thanks in advance

We’ve stayed at White River Campground it’s nice. Room to turn around. There are a couple of other campgrounds nearby. Google camping near Rainier. As far as hikes go…there are tons. If you want preparation hikes for your summit, then you could do Snoqualmie Mountain or Granite Mountain. There’s a fire lookout at the top of Granite. It may still have snow and ice at top. Last time we went, we had soft snow and post holed for a long section then used crampons near the top as the wind had turned it to ice. Micro spikes work nicely if you have those. Lots of cornices at the top. Beautiful views. We had enough snow to glissade down the chute. Want to say it was a 5 or 6 hour round trip. Natches Loop is a quick hike. It can be crowded though. Dewey lakes are a nice addition to the hike. Stunning views of Rainier. Rattlesnake Ridge, Mt Si, Sunrise provide good day hikes as well. Just a few. Have fun…Be safe.

Tentatively trying to run the BDR South to North starting June 26th. Anyone else in the area considering a trip around that time? Was supposed to go with a buddy but he had a dirt bike accident and isn't sure he will be ready by then.

In the Taco. What are your dates for August. I could maybe push it if I knew a group was going.

As of now it’s the first week of August. Not sure the pace we are planning to keep yet. I’m hoping 6 days will be enough to complete it. Have you driven the BDR before?

There are past threads here. On previous runs. Should include stops for gas. Also for people to join in at various locations or depart. And campsites.

I have not, it'll be my first time. The website is pretty helpful with nav files that include fuel stop info and campsites.

Yeah I’ve been looking at the site a bit and planning some areas to camp on GaiaGPS. Looks like a good time. I’ve been on portions of the BDR through they years before I knew of the BDR just getting out and hunting.

Yeah I hadn’t realized either until I loaded the route on GPS and a lot of previous waypoints were on it. I’ve spent some time on stage 1&2 and a little around chumstick/wenatchee areas. The stuff north of that is what I’m really looking forward to! A couple of the guys going haven’t done any of it so we are making the entire run. I hear stage 1 is pretty boring

Saw 2 today, first I've seen. Jeez they just look like every other Colorado, Frontier, Ranger, etc. In pictures I really like it, but just so generic. At least the third gen had it's ugliness going for it

We started from Bridge of the Gods (as a demarking spot) and headed to Stephenson for a tasty burger at Apollo (? - looks like it's gone done replaced by the Rock Creek Tavern), gas up at the Chevron across the street and then follow the directions to Carson, the turn off was very obscure.
There are some great camp sites along the way.
If you have time, make sure to venture to the Ape Cave (or is it Guler ice caves?), especially if it's hot.
There are certain sections that are very dry and that means LOTS of dust. We had to space out about 1/4 mile between the 6 trucks.

Not sure, I don't keep on on new cars. If I were in the market I would look. I do quite like the Lexus LC500 though, but idk how practical $100k is, but jfc everything is getting so expensive, maybe that is midrange now. I do like the specs of the new Tacoma for sure, I do wish they made the access cab in TRD trim, but I couldn't tell if it was a Tundra or Tacoma until I could see the grill
