I happened to have one of my favorite CDs of all time in the truck, and the owner of the Celica let me test out the car's original CD player (from 1990; 34 years old as of this post)!

The factory 10-speaker system with both cassette and CD was a $1,284 option in 1990!

 

I've owned a few OEM toyota cd players, all of them sounded awful haha.

My corolla GTS came with a 10 disc changer in the back, we gutted it and put in a Sony Xplod, still sounded like garbage haha

 

I was more interested in the quality of the speakers than the quality of the CD player. It sounded fine, but skipped a lot...

 

Less than 133K original miles!

The A/C has been converted to R134a and works great! The owner of this car also owns a 1993 Celica, which still uses R-12, and the A/C works better...

Why does it seem like the worse something is for our health or the environment, the better it seems to work?!?!

 

This car was special ordered back in 1990 by a female attorney, with the top GT-S trim and pretty much every available option including leather seats and the aforementioned $1,300 stereo system. The current (second) owner bought it from the woman who bought it new. Aside from the A/C being converted from R-12 to R134a as mentioned above, and the wheels as seen in the pictures, the car is totally stock and in impeccable condition. The pop-up headlights even still work!

 

That thing is clean

 

Stock except for the wheels, cold A/C, and everything (including the CD player as you can see) works!

 

Love seeing older clean cars. I'm a huge fan of fox body mustages I almost got 1 as my first car pops seen it and was like nope. Ended up with a 89 dodge colt. Lol but out of all the cars and trucks I've had over the years my favorite was my 92 camry xle v6. In HS I worked at a gas station/mechnic shop my boss friend had the camry but it had electrical issues so got it for 500$ with only 32k mi on it. Ended up only being a 20amp fuse and fixed all the issues.

Not in my budget as of right now. When I hit my mid life crisis I'll probably find one. Not there yet.

 

He's not selling. He just has an old Fox Body and loves them. He's had that car for about 25 years!

 

Oh I figured he wouldn't be selling most people I know that have them hold on to them. My buddy had a cobra for years I tried to buy it from him. Than didn't see him for about 10years. Ran into not long ago asked him about it. He said lady ran a red light t-boned him and totalled it. That was depressing to hear that bad boy was spotless. He was one of those guys that would be outside detailing every day.

 

I'll contribute to your thread. My brothers ride. I have not taken a ride in it yet. He bought it off of one of his customers. Fully restored. Don't remember what year it is
