I understand and would have done the same if possible. Most if not all the yards I’ve reclaimed were inaccessible to equipment other than my Tanaka weed eater with a hedge trimmer attachment. When you knock them down to the nubs and let them start to leaf out then you can minimize the spray by targeting just the leaves. By adding a few drops of dawn as a sticker and a dye marker then overspray is minimal.

I feel for you, I got violently ill after eating at Long John Silvers 40 years ago, from that day forward I knew I would never eat there again.

Oh yes, Mrs Wages sauce seasonings are great too!

We found half a dozen volunteer black German tomato plants today. Last year we left some of the rotten tomatoes in raised beds. Well, they germinated. So now I need to hurry up and get 2 more raised beds up for them.:D if we have too many of them, I will add them to sauces.

As mentioned previously if you can get it, Crossbow works wonders on Himalayan blackberry and other broadleaf weeds. I spot spray, trying to get the vine sprouts when less than a foot tall. The new growth is affected best. An adjuvant that cuts through the waxy leaf surface improves efficacy.

To be even more focused in application, cut stump is also an option. Cut the stem off at the base then daube the cut face with herbicide mix. Here's one example.

What would cause my cucumber to have so many flowers near the base? I can’t remember which variety these were. Maybe straight 8?

I may try to hand pollinate the one female there and see if it starts to take off. I’m not sure why but all my plants are growing really slow ever since I transplanted a month ago

    Are you trellising the vine?

I would let it grow out some more - you have a long growing season down south. I’d be more concerned about vine health and vibrancy in it’s early stages.

While a month should be ample time for any transplant shock to fade, look for micro-related reasons for the stunted growth. I see some signs of slug/snail foraging on the leaves - some mold/mildew in tne pine needles compost.

In my experience with cucumbers, they’re prone to powdery mildew damage to leaves - so trellising for better airflow and sunlight access and keeping a kempt growing area will keep the cuke vines happy.

The mildew looking stuff on the pine straw is DE that’s been through a rain storm. Haven’t reapplied yet because we’re currently getting a monsoon. Theres a trellis behind it not pictured, but I need to re work it. It’s not the best trellis I’ve made. Tomorrow I’ll get out there and try to do that maybe tie up the main stem to it to promote upward growth. The trellis is Just two T-Post with some chicken wire attached. I figured the transplant shock may be a reason so I did direct sow another couple seeds further to the right that are just starting to come up. Hopefully they can still produce before summer gets too hot. I’m about to start sowing some okra too

They are HOT. Must be the weather. Picked a third, radishes really liked the rain and heat we've had.
Himalyan salt cuts the hotness a bit, but I still cannot eat more than 2 by themselves.

Kinda hard to see but there is a Prime-Ark Freedom growing out of that green fence. I planted black raspberries and the P-A F in this area last Spring, the raspberries quickly have overtaken the space so the blackberry will get relocated.
