The CB650's were nice bikes, probably 60 HP to the ground shaft drives. A little quicker than a KZ 650 probably, but not up in the 750 class of GPZ's, GS or CB750F.

The spot I linked to is between you and super g in Camarillo, if you came down the 101, Opposite Lock is all of like a 1mile detour off the freeway.

    https://maps.app.goo.gl/s59PDiBWuFmujjaS6

Gdamn 10k.... I have had mine for like 1.5yrs and have right around 6k miles on mine. You are a beast.

Those small creature comforts are nice for sure.

FYI, I reskinned the stock seat and spent 20 bucks for a tusk heating pad it was so nice that I spent another 20$ on the same heating pad kit when I put the seat concepts seat foam/skin on my tenere.

I totally understand not like stuff sitting around, stuff that doesn't serve a purpose. While it kind of pained me to sell my Grom that I built up to be a fun little bike with a good chunk of power and was a neat niche bike.... It sat and didn't get used... 30 miles in 6 months....

I'm glad it's gone to someone who's going to ride it in some capacity. The garage space is SOOOOOO nice

On the search again for a crf50, crf110 or klx110. Used market is still expensive :annoyed:

just a couple of things tbh
Seee this guy is trying lmao
Ya he has a 750 later on and loved it as well but liked the looks of his 650 since it had the headlight plastics
Ya it sucks when you want something better but don't want to spend a lot just in case it's use is low... I know I'll use a more street capable bike a lot more but it's just cost haha I can spend thousands on random upgrades for the things I own but adding another thing? Oh that's a hard one to do! Idk why it is for me but it really is haha

Yeah, just wait until I figure out what I really want after a few months on a 2008 KLX450R. I'll be the rider trolling for the lowest interest rate and best price on a Beta 390RS. Or I'll go ADVisit my uncle in Cleveland and see what he has in reserve. I'm 59, uncle is 79, so he's gotta let go of the family jewels at some point.

The 650 was a lower maintenance bike, at least after they went shaft drive. Not as hard edged as many, but low maintenance is not something to take lightly. I went through a few years where my only transportation was a KZ750E3, when all your maintenance is done in an apartment parking lot or your work parking lot, not having much maintenance is a real god send.

Oh! Opposite Lock isn't too far, then. Unfortunately still since it's 6 hours each way for me and I'm doing it in one day I won't have time to go. :(

SuperG opens at 11 so I'm planning on leaving at 5AM here, then drifting till 4, and being home around 10PM.

Heh I'm trying to give @BkerChuck a run for his money this year with the mileage :p

Just kidding, I don't think I'll keep up this crazy rate of riding once I start going to the track and also do more car stuff. The Super Tenere is just so practical though, I end up using it more than my car for most things.

I typed all that out as a way of saying, it might be a little boring. LOL XSR (or a Z650/650RS, CB650R) would be worlds more fun. Technology has really come a long, long way since the 80's, just like the 80's far out reached the late 60's, and the older bikes bred a different type of excitement, they had raw edges, sketchy chassis with hard controls. Just remember, what you find exciting, may be terrifying to me. LOL

    Truth!

Yeah it is funny, the engine looks almost comically huge for the little power it makes. Vibrations weren't too bad actually, it's supposedly much smoother than the Sportster. $5-6k is usually what I see them listed at. I bought mine for $4k with 2000 miles on it. Then three years later traded it in for my 701SM, got the same $4k back and it had over 10k miles.

The XSR700 / MT-07 would be a great choice. Not as ideal for two-up I guess, but would a lot of fun for you. I've never ridden one though if it's anything like the FZ/MT-09 I'm sure it's a blast.

How are your kids doing, getting ready to step up from the PW?

oh no i get that haha any of the modern bikes would be way more fun! but can anyone say no to a 1k bike thats neat looking lol
ya it really does haha tbh i dont need loads of power either would it be fun? yes but do i need it? nah i really dont... im stupid and know what id do with it lol. thats good on vibrations thats something i really dont want to deal with... its awful after hours of riding and having my hands feel numbish.. i have (might choke on these words here...) looked at the sportsters and see how similar they do look but dont think i could tell my self ya lets buy a harley haha. i havent seen many for 4k yet but im also in no big rush atm to get anything just kinda looking around to see what options are there. i did find one for 6k out in nebraska that was that neat green color but it had some headlight fairing on it and the gf doesnt like the look of the bike with it on lol. that is some pretty dang good return on that haha.

ya its the same as the mt just more retro looking. i know its not the most ideal but it does seem to be a bit better then the modern style mt and z since the seats are larger and more plus then the modern ones. they would be a lot more fun for me as well since its more my style i go to on things. but who knows maybe ill like the old man cruiser style lmao

    am i getting old now?

Reeeeeally wanting the weather to warm up just a bit in the mornings. We are still below 40° and sometimes below 30° between 0500 and 0530 when I head to work. When the bike is frosted over, I'm not riding into work. Makes me sad, though. I want to.

We've been having a lot of rain lately and often pretty intense. Past 2 Saturdays I got caught in downpours on my way home from at least an hour away. Light rain Tuesday on way home from work. Took truck to work yesterday. Today is gorgeous but my grass needs cut when I get home.

Yard work is awful. I am really considering hiring it out. Takes all damn day to mow my place because it's a hay field and uneven ground. I'd way rather go for a bike ride, go camping, or sit in my underwear eating cheetos and playing Helldivers 2. :D

Our lot is only about 1/4 acre so I can mow it in about 45 minutes and only weed whack every 3-4 weeks so it's not too bad. I try to look at the bright side, getting some exercise and some sun after sitting at a desk all day.

Ha you just might be! Funny enough when I was first looking at cruisers my wife was wondering why I wanted an old man bike. I like to be open minded and try things...you can read all the opinions and reviews but you won't truly know until you ride it and find what do/don't like. Also I'm not opposed to a Harley, I might get one some day just for nostalgia since my dad had a few.

Feels like the rain has been landing on the weekends lately, messing with my riding time! Last Saturday was clear so I packed it all in, rode for most of the day then cut grass in the evening.

Hopefully next Friday is clear for us... are we still going for it?

Barring unforeseen problems or a need to do the ride on jet skis. I'll be keeping an eye on the forecasts for around the state. It's a big ride so we might hit weather in the Western part of the state that the Eastern portion isn't getting but that can happen. I already have all the legs of the ride in my GPS broken down to smaller segments. I do this so a missed turn doesn't make it recalculate the entire route. Gathering up my road snacks this weekend and looking over the bike.

If the weather is nice I'm heading to Vintage Motorcycle Day in Mt Airy, MD Sunday if you're bored.

After 12 or more hours at the office, I really don't feel like doing several hours of crappy yard work. I basically inherited the property is a sorry state and I'm not a landscaper. It needs help in more ways than I can give.
