Where I live, CC gets you the ability to do a 4473 without background check, and very importantly CC in states with reciprocity. You are also by and large conferred the same liberties/abilties a cc has. Same restrictions as "prohibited" people, but obviously its usually a secondary offence.

 

Yeah, not doing any more transfers anymore, either. Figure at this point it's DIY if I want anything.

So if you are planning a trip there check your luggage. Don't want to spend 12 years in prison there.

I know I know, but it's not America it's a foreign country. We need to follow their rules.

 

It’s insane to me to pack a bag without thoroughly emptying it and going through everything before leaving the country. While I feel sad for the predicament they are in, I in no way feel sorry for them nor do I think the US has any obligation to invest a ton of resources into rescuing them.

Been selected for enhanced screening in the past myself.
When it happened I started laughing TSA guy . Then I informed him if my security clearance, he and I had a good laugh .
It still doesn't release me from being scrutinized.
And yes we have a second set of bags for foreign travel and domestic travel.
Gotta go walk Mal she's getting vocal and wants to go outside.

 

I got behind a dude in secondary screening in Denver once. Got to chatting with him and he was active duty and headed to camp lejune (just north of me). He leaned over and said “you should pray they don’t start swabbing my stuff cause otherwise we will both be here for hours”

thankfully they didn’t. I don’t know what all he had but it was about 8 various size pelican cases

 

Coworker of mine wasn't EOD but worked very closely with them when he was in and said he was always nervous he would get swabbed. Never did though.

 

I read this and the following post as "swabbing my nose" and didn't know that TSA did covid or cocaine checks.

 

Yea he said that if they swabbed, every case plus his luggage and boots were gonna pop

 

I used to live in CO and GA and would travel to and from every 2 weeks. I remember once I was shooting earlier that morning and then flew back to CO that afternoon. Was swabbed at the airport and figured I was in for a long process but nothing happened. So not sure what the metric is behind that little machine but I was definitely shooting guns for a few hours only 2 hours before being swabbed at the airport.

 

I remember when they swabbed my hands at Denver before and I flat out told the TSA guy that I went shooting less than 12 hours ago and there isn’t a day when I don’t handle firearms, I’m not exactly sure what the hell those swabs detect but I came back negative.

 

Went to Jamaica a couple weeks ago on our return flight I hear a guy say I'm getting on the plane first he walked around the back of the desk and that's where they stopped him Jamaican police, he was the last one to get on the plane since they were swabbing everything.

 

Several years back the x-ray machine for purses and bags at my work broke but security still put things through it to keep up appearances until they could get them repaired. It may have been that type of situation.

 

Got tagged at the airport once, but they didn't tell me what for. I was young and stupid back then. It was a backpack I had at work and used hunting. At the time I was working with pharmaceutical cocaine and the bag usually stayed in my reloading room as I was short on space. So, when they asked if I knew why it tested positive, I asked if it was for gunpowder or for drugs. That got me an extra hour of interrogation. Never did find out what it swabbed for.

 

Damn this brings back bad memories few yrs back I did fireworks display shows in the summers for Grucci pyrotechnics. I Was flying from state to state for shows ATL,TN,GA,VA,FL,MS I was interrogated at all TSA check points to the point of missing flights sometimes. After handling all those 4-6 inch shells my pores were leaking gun powder.
