So here’s the Fanatik custom decals on my 38 - this was before the performance models were available aftermarket and it was an OE takeoff and came with maroon decals. Next to the performance 36 on my SJ Evo you can’t tell that it’s not an original fox sticker. There is a seam there but it’s more of a hard edge than a color.

And it does look like Slik has improved since my experience with them.

I have a brand new Fox Factory 36 that came in the build spec for the steel hardtail that I’m building. Is the excess grease in the negative air side still a thing and should I have my local shock tuner go through it?

I’m very much a noob and I’m not sure I want to tackle this on my own, and I’m not even sure I have the right tools if I did want to. Thanks!

I’m a sucker for some tanwalls. Luckily most of the tires I like to run have that colorway as an option.

The one that I purchased around Christmas was packed full. It wasn’t that difficult to clean it out while I was going to 140 from the 160 air spring it came with. I think the only “special” tool I picked up was the Fox flat socket. I also didn’t have a regular socket in that size.

Yes. You do need some specialized tools (primarily to release the foot nuts) to do this but the actual work to remove the air spring is pretty easy. I just did it on a 34 a couple of weeks ago.

I appreciate the feedback! I just dropped it off with DirtLabs here in Longmont and they’re on it.

Unfortunately, they're still packed from the factory. Once that's all cleaned up with new oil and the correct amount of grease, the fork gets even better. Only 'special' tool needed was a grounded down flat 32mm from harbor freight for like 7 bucks. besides that, totally doable from the garage. Give it a shot next time

That’s crazy. Some of the pictures online are even worse.

The guys at DirtLabs said that they have had more than a few folks bring in brand new forks for this and they have discovered it during rebuilds too. Seems pretty wild when it can have such a potential impact on the function of the fork. Maybe they just assume most folks will never rebuild these?

    :notsure:

So I wasn't getting along with a couple things on the hew HT. Stack height and 35mm rise bars, even with the stem slammed and the pretty gold Canfield pedals, looks don't translate to comfort and performance. Installed some Stamp 11's and a 20mm rise bar and took it out on two 15 mile rides this week and it felt "marvelous". I think its perfect now...Oh and back to the SILK graphics, they do a nice job.

yeah, it's kinda crappy to be honest and i dont think it's just a fox thing either. Probably over-greasing to assume the owners with either just upgrade right away or never take them apart so better be safe than sorry..

Even more junk on the volume spacers that i didnt get pictures of. Maybe they have overstock in grease.............................................? :bananadead:
