Hey y’all. I’m looking for bucket seats for my 2008 regular cab Tacoma. I found some for the same year but for an access cab. They said it won’t fit. Do y’all know if that’s true, and if so where can I look for seats that will fit? Either Toyota brand or aftermarket. I’m just not a fan of the bench seat.

Any 2nd gen seat will physically fit (as well as others), the problem lies in having to modify the SRS (Airbag) system to make it happy because the electronics are different between bench and bucket seats and aren't interchangeable.
Also prior to 09 side seat airbags were optional, after 09 they were standard.

Gotcha, thanks. I have a base model. there is a connection under the seat but for some reason I thought that would’ve connected somehow to the steering wheel airbag. How could I figure out if that connection is for a side seat airbag? …
So being that the bucket seats came from an access cab going into a single cab makes no difference. The mounting holes would be the same?

As far as I know the seats will physically bolt in, someone can correct me if I am wrong.
The problem area is the Occupant Cassification ECU and related components, the bench seat uses a different setup, wiring, and connectors than bucket seats.
It can and has been made to work but no one can guarantee the airbag system will function properly in the event of a collision if it has been modified.

There's several threads about seat swaps if you do a bit of searching.

I am installing scheel-mann seats into my 2012 regular cab. Would have been done with it already but apparently the vendor I used took a little longer to order them for me plus the ones I wanted were on back order. I am using planted brackets to mount them. My goal is to have it set up where it is easy to go back to OEM bench without any issues within an hour or so.

The OEM manual console was probably the hardest stuff to get so I ended up just ordering all new OEM console parts using a VIN of a 2015 TRD PRO manual equipped Tacoma.

The most expensive single OEM part is the back panel trim. This back panel trim is only seen on the regular cab models with factory OEM buckets and it will give you a nice finished look instead of exposed metal panel.

I already run scheel-mann seats in my land cruiser so I am not new to these seats. I like them so much I wanted them for my tacoma.

The occupant classification sensor, seat belt, airbags is pretty easy to defeat for the bench seat models. Bucket seat models takes a little more elbow grease and planning.
