I don’t see this as a heated riding conversation. just opinions in my mind. I do like reading the stories you guys have about some of your rides.

Saw a KTM 400 for sale on the corner a few blocks away, been there for a week. Looks to be well used. Maybe it's just dirty. I'm not looking for another bike, but I've been by twice and it's just sitting there, beckoning.

I lusted over that "Brian Stonebridge" Bridgestone twin, high pipe. GT350

And the Trail 100 "Goat" was the best "dirtbike" compared to Yam, Suzy, and Honda, IMO.

Once you go rotary valve, you won't want to go back!

This sounds like my riding temp range lol. I DID ride this evening... it was below 60.... it was chilly.

Oh perfect, in that case, yeah get the Shinkos, I have had great luck with shinko tires on my dirtbike and my now late grom in the past.

hahahah I took NO offense to what you said, I absolutely get where you are coming from.... the term you are looking for is a "squid". I dont see any squids in here.

I have done quite a bit of riding in CA.... BY FAR... and im talking by MAGNITUDES the best so far was the costal range of northern CA (mtns between highway 5 and the coast north of san fran/sacramento) and coast along highway 1/101 north of san Francisco all the way to Eureka.... its simply STUNNING.

I feel this.... id go from the grom to my honda 919 with very similar hp and a little more torque and it was a full on culture shock haha.

The "Kank" i.e. Kangamagus in the white mountains of NH is worth the ride 302, the notch and all associated.

    Alas, no ocean views....

I used to love an evening ride across Camino Cielo and back when I lived in Goleta.

Decided to go to the local watering hole, normally I do this on the "round town bike" the xt225 as its only like a mile or two down the road, but it was marginally blocked by some crap in the garage and the super tenere was easier to get to... so hopped on the big girl.

    Pulled up.

Ohhhhh whats up bae, how you doin, can i come in close?

As long as I am going down memory lane. LOL

I actually had 4 Bridgestones over the years, Sport 90, Mountain 90, 175 Dual Twin and a gold 100 Trail. Moved to a Yamaha Twin jet 100 and then a YDS3 Catalina. Triumph TR6C (that I wish I still had), a couple of CB750's, a Yamaha TX500, another really nice 71 CB750 that I had from mid 70's until until 83, and wish I still had.

    Memory lane

I put nearly 10,000 miles on a YDS-3 one summer as a kid in Minot North Dakota.
Might have left town 5 times! ICR I was only 15 ;-)

One of my fondest riding memories is waking up at 3 or 4am in Park Island, Idaho, just outside of Yellowstone, so that I could try to outride a storm that was blowing in. Well, it caught up to me around 6am as I'm trying to blast across Montana. I can still recall the exact moment the rain soaked through my crotch and started dripping freezing on my junk. And how miraculous that cup of shit coffee at the first gas station I could find was, but also standing by the pump thinking damn, I'd still rather be on the bike right now. It cleared up a couple hours later and was beautiful and sunny the rest of the day. Did about 500 miles that day over about 10 hours in the saddle. Some of the best riding in my life that day, too, crossing from Montana back into Idaho over Hwy 12 and Lolo pass. Not my pic, but I have one somewhere of this sign..

You'da man. Mine was blue and white, it was really a pretty good bike, just not fast. The DT175 was probably a little quicker, but those carburetors on the YD had the sweetest moan when you were working through the gears. I saw one a few years ago with flat bars and rear sets running with a guy on Honda 305 hawk decked out about the same way. It was really cool to see them, the ultimate time machines for a biker.

You don't want to hear about the hail storm I missed coming into central Montana on a Vespa! It's late, I'm tired. But it was something else!

Mine was Candy Apple Lime Green

We had a little tush dog at the time, it used to love to go for rides, Paws on the bars , rear end in my lap, sprawled across the tank. ears flapping and tongue hanging out.

I lived on the high ground in Minot, above the flooding Mouse River. The back way home from the ball field was a long hard pull past the cemetary. That "oil injection" would lay down a bug screen of two stroke smoke that would hang in the summer stillness for half an hour. Yup, those twin carbs would moan.

    IN ONE SUMMER!!!!! holy hell!

Oh to be young again.... back in my mid teens (2005 =15yrs old for me) I dont think id go a day without riding a motorcycle, either my Chinese z50 street legal (with a drivers license i didnt have) clone (10k flawless miles on the thing i miss it) or a dirtbike.... this is where it all started, id get bored after school/weekend after chores and responsibilities and tell the parents "im going on a ride", They knew I was responsible and would simply ask, dirt (which was taking the dirtbike to the 200+ acres of open land right up the neighborhood a 1/4 mile) or street (z50 - all back neighborhood roads *for the most part*). Sometimes it was literally just around the block.... other times hours in the dirt... other times the next town over getting tacos on the z50. Damnit... id kill for those simple innocent times with friends again.

I enjoyed a blessed upbringing when it came to motos and the area I grew up in for sure.

I had a few "loops" around the region that would rack up the miles. There was a truck stop that served up cinnamon rolls to die for! Two wheel Momories are great fun!

Don't get me going on the BSA 441 "Victim" that changed my life!

Hail hurts while riding. This is us hiding out in a tunnel up at about 10k feet in Colorado. One of those rides that started and ended warm and sunny in the mid 80s so the nice air flowing mesh gear did nothing when the thunderstorms rolled in with hail and near freezing rains.

My buddy bought his KLR and rode home in hail. Trial by fire, KLR guys are an odd sort.
