Can’t say I was that productive today… but did replace all the switches, outlets (with USB) and wall plates in wifey’s new office/library. It’s the little things, right? Started a bit of mud on the walls… she now wants to paint it so figured I’d touch up any small imperfections.

Kudos to you on the kitchen though! Countertops look great! We’ve been talking about butchers block tops… which is great because I can do them. And she wants the cabinets whitewashed. That will probably have to be contracted out.

Outlets and switches are still a good thing to have done and the time adds up. Lots of things when getting a room ready for paint.

 

Questions:

Anyone capable (100%) of doing the ECGS bearing?

And if so, do you have the removal tool and install tool?

I did mine but I wouldn’t trust my work on someone else’s truck

 

So I’ve heard there’s the normal way to do it and drop the suspension and then pull the axle, followed by an alignment. But I remember seeing a thread on here somewhere about a way to do it not requiring an alignment. Thoughts? Only reason I ask is I literally just had an alignment done less than a couple hundred miles ago and would hate to be doing another back to back. Ugh!

I have to hook up with @Tonymontana sometime soon and get this CMC done. That’s be great if he’s good with ECGS too… he seems to be the guru of Toyota for locals. I’ve seen pics of his work and it’s really really good!!

 

I’m not sure why you’d need an alignment after replacing it. Maybe a lot of times it happens when changing the shocks.

I did mine when I was swaping out the suspension. I didn’t remove the axle nut either. Just moved that stuff out of the way. However, it was a pain as you get less room to work.

 

Correct, I am very much not capable and I had a shop do it lol

 

I've got the removal tool. Used a socket tapped gently with a hammer set the EGCS. Mark the cams and you shouldn't need to redo the alignment. Can give you a hand if you'd like, just not this weekend.

Yep, that’s why you’d need an alignment. If they’re marked and you’re confident, you could be good to go.
