I bought a joying head unit about a month ago for my ‘06, and finally decided that I wanted a backup cam to go with it. I installed the backup camera (hooked up power to the tail light) and then wired it to the dash. From the limited documentation I could find, I think the orange “BACK” labeled wire on the joying unit should be what I hook the trigger wire up to, so I did that but it still doesn’t open the camera when I go into reverse.

Everything works fine I just have to manually open the app to see the camera feed. I want it to open the camera when I go in reverse. Any tips?

Just put a joying unit in my '06 xrunner. I got the back up camera for it and I just temporarily hooked it up to check it's function before final install and couldn't get it to automatically come on either. I left it out for now until I figure it out. Hope you get an answer for us both!

Joying customer support is worthless. They take days to reply to emails and they arent even helpful just dumb questions. Let me know if you figure anything out! I am going to toy with it today.

They are pretty useless, I've had some luck just Google searching for other issues I've had, no luck with the camera yet. There are so many settings in the damn thing, there has to be one for the camera trigger. Most issues I've had were solved by just finding the right setting. I haven't spent enough time with it yet but if I figure it out I'll report back here.

Yeah, I have looked through the settings religiously. Took me a little bit to figure out I needed the input to be CVBS N for the camera to even work. There is also a setting with options for "often power on" or "power on when reverse" which do nothing that I have seen.
