I think the whole crew cab shortbed thing comes about from the family demographic where someone wants a cool truck, but rationally would do fine with a sedan, and can only afford to buy one or the other, oh, and it needs to fit in the garage.

Years ago we bought a crew cab full size 6 seater so we could tow our boat and take friends and family in the same rig.

Well, times change, I don't really need a crew cab full size anymore. I'd love to get a king cab/ac/extended cab truck with a longer bed.

I think (well, I hope) that the demographic starts demanding king cab trucks again as their family empty nests.

Personally can't stand the compromise 4 door trucks create. Short bed, sometimes longer wheelbase. 4 door Wrangler makes no sense to me.

Grateful Toyota still offers choices, they may be well positioned to further improve their market standing if customers begin to prefer more balanced trucks again....

I don’t particularly want an access cab because to me size is extremely important and the smaller the truck the better. I was really mad they stopped offering the regular cab. But I like that with my access cab I can at least put stuff back there and it’s air-conditioned and climate controlled. It’s not the best option but the only one if I don’t want a long bed four door truck that’s way too damn long to park here.

I totally am not going to do with a Dad truck four-door short bed. And the four-door long bed truck is a non-starter because I would never be able to park it. I still don’t understand how people with huge pick up trucks even survive around here.

Then they come along with the xtracab and say that you’re not really accessing that space back there, but we’re gonna put it there anyway and then we’re gonna make it harder to access.

I would really like to be a fly on the wall and see what kind of stupid requests focus groups and marketing departments are telling engineers that people supposedly want from trucks. It would be eye-opening.

I drove a 13 ton bucket truck for 15 years as a City of Seattle employee. I can assure you, it may seem impossible to deal with a bigger truck in a congested West coast city, but you'd be surprised at how quickly you adapt.

My current truck is fairly big (I'd prefer something smaller someday) but I cope just fine with tight parking lots and "compact car" spots. Backing into spots, power folding mirrors, parking sensors and 360° camera makes things better. My previous truck, same, older version, had none of that, just rear proximity sensors and I dealt just fine for 14 years.
Sometimes I enjoy the sadism of parking a big truck in tight spots (personally don't care about dings and scratches)

My wife has a Corolla HB, and I can see why she has no desire to drive my truck.

That actually makes sense - it should be cheaper for those reasons, but how much would be the question.

I wonder if Ford is over there looking at Toyota's iForce max halo trucks? Trail Hunter and Pro, and thinking lets put the Powerboost in the Raptor F-150 making the Raptor a high output-hybrid.

Never know but being that they are currently developing the PHEV for 2025 Australian market then I would say they it might get interesting what they come up with. I think ideally Jeep would have been the ones furthest ahead since they have the 4XE platform but have been taking their sweet ass time with getting the Gladiator out.

Yeah, because they are overstocked on the Gladiators they already have. It doesn't sell like the Wrangler.

I want to say 4XE got a bump in range, but maybe that was a Tesla. I thought something was improved for 25 could have been 4XE available on the Gladiator.

I'm not sure if anyone would go for a hybrid, or PHE Raptor, the power increases would be nice. There's still the SC V8 Raptor, it would compete against. Definitely going to get interesting!

Same dealer I worked with on my 2016 has me on the list for allocation (3 down) and they are doing at MSRP $64K. It's still a !@%!@ load of money. Offering depending on appraisal at time of delivery $26 for the 2016. Writing a check for the rest.

I would argue the each generation of Tacoma has been underpriced. Finally MSRP is catching up to reality!

Buy what you like and let people buy what they like.

    Whatever you buy be happy!

But it's made in Mexico! China could build and sell a Tacoma for less than Toyota, + the added expenses of shipping+ the additional tarrifs. Toyota's Tacoma does not need to ship as far, and their labor costs are less than the US. MSRP should be less.

I dont enjoy parking the LB but I can sleep back there; it holds fishing rods and winter fishing gear well; and I can actually transport extra passengers when needed (versus the XC). All that and its STILL a few inches shorter than an F-150 with the 5.5 bed.
