nice, barely beat the old rav4 v6 of 6.3 0-60 (some say 6.4) vs the prime at 5.7 0-60

had one back in the day, that think was a hoot to drive, but the torque steer was horrible

What do you mean "out the door"? You realize not all states have sales tax and many states waive sales tax for veterans.

Tried finding that info. I’m honestly curious what states wave sales tax for veterans. I’ve seen property tax exemptions for 100% disabled vets, but I’m all about a state sales tax exemption!

VA, PA, MN,... other states waive registrations fees.

In many states you only pay sales tax on the difference after your trade. The point was "out the door" has way too many variables. I would say you have to compare MSRP to MSRP, but for the original RR at 57K and OR at 58.5K argument, I feel certain that (in a few months) most will pay less than MSRP for the OR and most will still pay more than MSRP for the RR.

I'm not saying the OR is better or as good as an RR. That depends on what is important to you (vented seats, power tail gate, horizontal display, mpg, resale value, reliability, whatever).

For example, if I was in the market for a 4-door "family" sedan, for 85K I could get a Charger Hellcat or a Lexus LS 500 F Sport. Obviously a 717hp Hellcat would "outperform" the LS, sort of like how a TTV6 RR "outperforms" an OR, but the features of the LS are more important to me.

Definitely not here in Michigan. But I get your point.

I'm sure the G4 Tacoma is a good truck.

To me, these inflated prices for what Toyota is charging for the G4 Tacoma are showing Toyota is trying to recalibrate their asking price due to the rapid inflation we have experienced the last couple of years.

It's a bummer really. Toyota's small (now midsize) truck used to be as good a value and affordable, but unfortunately has priced me out of considering one.

Oh well. I've got 190k on my 2011 Prerunner that I'm pretty good with preventative maintenance on and think I'll go another couple hundred thou on my current Toyota.

With dealers already discounting $50k trims w base turbo 4-shooters, I’d be fascinated to know how aggressively they’re ordering the $50-60k hybrids. And how they’re getting optioned.

    $5-6k hybrid discounts for Christmas?

It should be interesting to see how long the Trailhunters and Pros sit.

What will be interesting is how many Pros and THs are produced/allocated. If the dealers are only getting 1-2 of each they will keep them on the showroom floor with a mark up. If each dealer gets dozens of them, charging a premium on an already expensive model will be a tough sell.

I'm thinking Ford is making Ranger Raptors at a loss to generate buzz but maybe Toyota is making Pros/TH at a price that they want to sell a lot of them?

At 6.5% that's roughly 62,302.50 OTD less doc fees etc.....not a veteran or a qualify for the bullshit " hero " discount. Just a working peasant. As for states w/o sales tax ........there's only 5.

Don't you also have to pay the 6.5% if you buy the less expensive Ranger Raptor? And if you were following above, Ford will likely recalibrate their RR pricing soon.

Absolutely I have to pay the 6.5%. I imagine that the RR will adjust also, likely more for the 25 model but, pure speculation. Speculating, hoping and/or gambling that the RR will be as reliable as my 20 off-road too :fingerscrossed:

It's not for me, but if you can snag a '24 RR for msrp or even 5K over, the '25 price increase will pull the '24 resale value to the right. Get one while you can.

I wasn't interested initially. Took a decent test drive yesterday (thanks to someone posting discount. Very smooth throttle and shifting. Power was there, turbo pulls and won’t constantly shift. Ride is plush compared to leafs. Interior is nice, seats are comfy. Heated seats and wheel are a bonus. Stereo is great (JBL). Got good trade in value on my ‘21 OR. The 4 banger chugs along pretty well. Ended up buying it. Got a good deal IMO (invoice).

Definitely understand there is a guinea pig aspect here, and I accept that. But it is more refined in every way. Coming from owning 5 previous Toyota trucks.

I’m sure issues may arise, but so far I like it.
