Look closely and you will notice that this truck lacks inspection stickers and a license plate; New Jersey stopped doing safety inspections in like 2010, and doesn't require emissions testing for vehicles older than 1996, so it's entirely possible that this truck was recently brought over from Jersey (where the winters are just as harsh as PA, if not harsher in some areas). It is also likely that this truck has been in PA it's whole life, was relegated to farm truck/off-road use when it failed a safety inspection, and hasn't been on a public road in years. This thing could probably pass a smog test in California with flying colors if the emissions control system is intact, but ain't no way in hell it pass a PA safety inspection in this condition!

CA might let you drive that truck on the road, but PA will not. #irony

Exactly, but a Cali truck would not have rot like this. I would love to get my hands on a 1992-1993 Toyota pickup from Cali that won't pass smog, but is in mint condition, and combine the best parts of each truck. It would be better to find a rust-free West Coast truck with a salvage title, so I don't feel bad about butchering it for parts!

That'd make a decent trail pig, or a farm truck perhaps (which it seems to already be)

Also, I would not buy it without a title. Even if the truck is never registered for road use again, I would not want to buy something that I don't intend to use for parts if it doesn't have a title. Even a salvage title is better than no title!

I had a cyst removed last week and am at the dermatologist to finally (HOPEFULLY!) get the damn stitches removed. I pulled I to the parking lot and immediately saw this beauty parked there! The owner happened to be in the waiting room and was happy to answer all of my questions about the truck, which is a fully loaded 1990 model that spent the first 12 years of its life in Tennessee. He bought it from the original owner in 2002 and has been modifying it ever since.

The engine was overhauled by the original owner prior to him buying it, which included new head gaskets. The original engine made it to 300K miles before he finally replaced it with a rebuilt (and bored out) 3.0L from a custom shop in California. The truck is a 5-speed stick, but I forgot to ask if the transmission is original.

As shown by the vanity license plate, the truck has straight axles, and it has 4.88 gears to get those big wheels moving.

The truck has A/C, cruise, tilt, power windows, and power locks. The owner told me that everything except the power antenna works. The truck has a CD player and new speakers, but nothing too crazy, according to the owner.

Those 3.0 engines were good once the HG were fixed. Weak, but good.

I see the owner was also a Holler' Boy. (Upchurch fan)

Yes, that was my experience. My head gaskets went twice on my 1992. Once in warranty and once out of warranty. Toyota/Dealership covered it both times. I purchased from new and owned it for 14 years. Once the HG were replaced it was still an awesome truck for my needs.

I happened to be driving by a couple days later and saw that the Dolphin was wide open for some better pics, so I stopped; I have identified this camper as at least a 1985 due to one subtle clue...

Ah! An 89 Toyota truck. It already has that classic 90's taco styling thought he headlights make it look like a new Bronco.

But the orange 4th gen looks fun to drive. Not sure why the orange makes it look funner/faster, but it does!

I wouldn't mind an orange truck especially since I have an orange bike and orange cats.

I don't know why, but I saw a bunch of 4th gens cruising around this weekend. Saw a couple white ones and I think white makes the body styling look lame. Saw a blue one (looked purple to me) and that looked good. But then I saw a bronze oxide one. Me: "Shit! That's a good looking truck!" On Toyota's website that color just doesn't do it for me. However, in real life, I think it may be one of the better 4th gen colors. Would like to see that orange in person though.
