Looking good! Seems like the 285 fits nicely, although haven’t heard a lot about how well it works in the rough yet.
Was wondering, given 285s range is usually a little less than actual 33, how would a 33.3 fit?
Looking to go tall/skinny Duratrac RT 255/80/17 w/o a lift to start out with, then later add a lift. Should be getting my OR this summer!

 

what kind of issues did you have in-relation to your lift on the previous gen?
I dont know how a minor spacer or collar lift would present a bunch of issues...

Love the skinny 33s. Can't decide on the Toyo AT3 vs the Falken AT4W. The Mickey Thompson in 255/85/17 (the only 85 ratio I can find out there) is also in the running.

Anyone running the skinny Mickey?

 

Anyone getting speed wobbles with 285/70/17 tires at speeds 68 to 75 mph? Vibrations felt in my seat. I just got my tires installed the other day and noticed it.

 

I have 275/70/18 MT tires and do not get any wobbles or vibrations at any speed. I would bet you might need some re-balancing on at least 1 tire. My previous 4Runner had 1 tire that would not balance and I got some vibrations around 60mph.

 

Had Michelins on our Tundra 275 70 18’s and couldn’t get them to keep balance. Enough I will never buy a Michelin tire again.

 

The shop rebalanced all 4 wheels and it’s much better but still slight seat vibration is felt around 70 mph. The shop says it’s more challenging to balance these heavier and bigger tires than standard tires so most of the time it’s not perfectly balanced. Maybe I’ll go to another shop that can do some road force balance to get it done.

 

No wobbling but my driver front tire is wearing a fair bit faster then the rest.

 

This is what I have. It's nice having 33s out of the gate, but it's also funny how the 18" wheel changes their appearance a bit. Slightly smaller sidewall than 33s on a 17" rim.

 

Yeah that’s why I went with an aftermarket wheel. Also because I wanted it to look more aggressive with the offset.

 

285/70/17 BFG KO2's. Lift kit soon

 

Falken Wildpeak AT4W in 255/80/17 (33.0") on stock Offroad wheels. I think 33" is the best tire diameter for the 4G Taco without a lift. Fills out the wheel wells without looking cramped.

Went the 255/80 route instead of 285/70 because this size is a lot lighter.

 

A guy I work with put 295's on his 2024 Sport on Monday with no lift or leveling, and no rubbing. I think they look good, and he says he loves them so far!

 

IMHO, 32s (265/70/17) or 33s 285/70/17) look the best on mid size trucks. I've had trucks with larger (35 & 37) tires in the past, but the hit in MPG and excess wear was not worth it in the long run. Granted, those were full size trucks, but to be honest, those full size trucks were about the same size as the mid size trucks of today. Yes, I'm going back a ways, to the late 90s and early 2000s. Larger tires like 35s on up look cartoonish on mid size trucks, in my opinion. To each their own, but I'm totally happy with 32s (265/70/17) or 33s 285/70/17).
