Just wanted to share this. Limited chrome wheel is not really chrome rims. It is Chrome plastic cover....

Here’s another hubcentric option. Fast HD Recon 17x8, +20 offset, 95.1 hub, weighing in at 24.8 lbs. Wrapped them in Toyo Open Country R/T tires 285/70r17. No rub at full steering lock or ripping through a very bumpy field by my place. Very happy with the setup so far and looking forward to getting it dirty on some real trails once work settles down next week.

Truck is completely stock, I was thinking of levelling it, but after seeing how it sits with the stock wheels and tires in the bed (which is probably around 250lbs) I intend to keep the suspension stock for the time being. I’m sure it will be very capable off road as is.

18x9 +0. Love the poke and had to remove the mud guards. Going to get a 2 inch level kit soon. No hub rings on this right now.

These trucks are already too wide IMO, I don't understand the massive wheel poke people are going for unless they're simply mall crawling.

That's the same height as 285/75R17 which seems to be on plenty of the trucks in this thread so I'd say yes...

On stock offset wheels and suspension you could probably do that size, but will be tight. If you got aftermarket wheels with less positive offset you might be in trouble without a lift, unless you wanted to take the safety plate off.

anybody know the offset on the stock sr5 wheel?
Assuming there wont be poke if I install larger tire on a factory wheel?
Stock sr5 wheel doesnt look horrible...
I prefer it over the other busy 2 tone factory busy options...
Yes, my plan was to get some black methods, but......
Contemplating getting mine powedercoated satin black....
    $60 a wheel....
I can get the tires serviced for free...
theres a utuber "the unrestricted" that plastidipped his & they actually look great...
Thats cheezy though wont be plastidipping mine & spraying over the lugnuts & all.....

    +60 offset = no poke....
Looks like the stock wheel is only 7" wide but what will a wider wheel really do inregards to a driving / handling aspect, not like its going to give me less body-roll...
Just not sure if its worth throwing $75 at each wheel & powdercoat, vs going with some methods....
I mis-spoke on the $60 per wheel, I just looked at my quote, its $75 per wheel.
Something I need to think about!

Could try some Tundra spacers to bring the wheel out a bit if you really wanted to keep the stocks? New wheels and tires really transform the truck though. Not sure where you live but I’m keeping my stock wheels for winter tires.

Im in san diego, I dont that nasty white stuff......
I like the no-poke appearance so no real reason to do a spacer, atleast in my mind, unless im overlooking an advantage to it other than esthetics / appearance. Im thinking more of a pizza cutter look...
    Seen guys using +35-+38 methods....
I wont be doing anything bigger than the 285/70/17, even contemplating just going with the 265/70/17, yeah I know, pretty much stock tire size on the offroads...
but bigger than what I got.
Lots to think about, get BIG tires & MPG starts tanking, theyre not easy on the gas to begin with....

Man if you’re going to keep the stock wheels and want the pizza cutter look I’d do the 255/80r17s for sure. The only functional advantage I can see to a wider stance would be extra stability if you lifted the truck raising its center of gravity. After that it’s just looks.

    Im all over the place...
I like the look of the 285, just trying to keep the poke to a minimum....
Really dont need a larger tire, more about appearance, pavement queen.
The Westcott 2.5" lift will be at the front door by the end of the day today....
Only installing the front, not installing the rear 3/4" spacer part of the lift...
Need to get rid of that rake, theres still rake when you do a leveling kit...
