Actually on the ground on 5/18/2024:
    Camelback (18) https://www.camelbacktoyota.com/new-inventory/index.htm?model=Tacoma&status=1-1
    Big Two (6) https://www.bigtwotoyota.com/new-inventory/index.htm?model=Tacoma&status=1-1
    Tempe (10) https://www.autonationtoyotatempe.com/new-inventory/index.htm?status=1-1&model=Tacoma

2021 was an entirely different market for selling cars and trucks. Impossible to compare to 2024.
But you can compare the buying power of the dollar: something purchased in mid-2021 for $39000 would cost $45000 in today's dollars.

I had kittens when I paid out the door tag-tax-title of $38k for my 2021 4WD AC.
Dealer still contacts me every few months wanting to buy it back.
I keep telling him I'll take $75k in cash or I'll finance with 50% down and approved credit score but they never bite.

and world-wide central banks were deploying the same easy-money low interest rate strategies. Also, the US dollar is the reserve currency, so our monetary actions affect the entire world.

I don’t think people realize the amount pain we’re about experience as an entire world.

Property prices are rising world wide, but the world is experiencing a historic population bust. Prices on everything are going to crash because of future low demand. However, the markets are irrationally not pricing in this long term view.

We have an asset bubble of all bubbles coming. Im predicting a 200 year long era stagnation, and a dark age 2.0 where nothing changes.

Just some 35% tint to match the rears and some 285/70/17 Falkens…
Until they drive one and realize it's twice the motor / tranny in any Taco that's ever been produced...

I'm in Tucson. I've been looking to buy a Tacoma for the past two years. But never having a Toyota I wanted to test drive before making a decision. Just about everything here was sold before it got here. Plus the rare one to make it to the lot was butchered with preloads like aftermarket GPS and other trinkets which I won't buy. I usually buy my vehicles in the Phoenix area anyway where there's more competition. After much research Avondale Toyota looked like the best no hassle dealer but they NEVER had a unit on the lot then. Now there are several units on the lots here in Tucson but the current economy plus being a new model has me pausing for a while.

If anything like the Tundra I agree ...loved the 5.7 but don't miss it at all really, loud and thirsty while new model is quiet and better mpg than my 4.0 Tacoma.

That's what hooked me. Instant power and the 8 speed being light years ahead of the outgoing 6 speed auto.

    $1000 off on a $50,000+ truck isn’t a significant discount.

Turn offs for me is the high price, made in Mexico, ruined the Access Cab, no manual transmission available for the Xtra Cab, huge favoritism for double cabs, didnt improve towing capacity, deleted the damped tailgate on the SR, barely improved payload, made the XtraCab the lowest payload hauling truck. Like the new Tundra, I feel like it is an instagram truck than a workhorse light pickup.

Price is the biggest negative, on the positive you can drive it without needing to get a tune. Nothing dumber than buying a vehicle that looks good but you hate the way it drives. The 2024s do look good with 33s or 35s as well with minimal cutting.
Remember the first year of the 2016, people complaining about the crank position sensor, diff whine, leaky tail light, bunch of stuff, but by 2023 they are pretty dialed.
If it wasn’t for the price people would be buying the 2024s more.

Cafe requirements have forced manufacturers to go to 4 cylinders jamming thousands of dollars of tech into it to perform and cost you big $. No thanks. Too much initail cost and future maintenance. Gone are the simple low cost days. Keep that truck after the warranty expires and you will be biting nails. Large displays, hybrid, sensors all over. Good luck.

Later years had issues also. I have a 2016, late model, and not one issue other than the 3rd brake light leak.
Diff whine for those who had it and still do is harmonics, cps was minor. Nothing really major. Now what is major on later years ALSO is timing cover leak and crossover pipe, which still exist in later models. Not resolved. There were other issues that arose in later models that were not in 2016.

It's actually rather cute watching the third gen crowd melt down...

Now you understand, and a g3 Tacoma has the same exact same suspension as a g2.. exactly the same.... all those years of bagging on the g2. And now, after it all. Joing the club.

At least with this g4 it's actually a new truck. Not the same suspension with some electronics taped on.
