    Hi TW,

Tried searching the forums for any info on this but couldn’t find.

Was working on the truck and noticed this.

What are these bolt sizes? is this driveable? it’s pretty lodged in there.

this is out of my DIY realm so i’ll probably bring to shop.

Don’t know the bolt size but that’s not driveable that bolt is keeping your axle in place, if the shackle goes out of place it can damage a lot of things or worse, it will make you lose control and get you into an accident.

Slap some anti-seize on it. Knock it back in with a mallet. It's a 19mm. Torque it down to 89ft-lbs.

It's pretty off center. Can't see the hole of the leaf spring on the other side.

Lift up the truck either from the frame or the hitch receiver, you want the leaf springs to “extend”. This will allow you to easily remove the bolt and examine it, driving like this might have damaged the threads on the bolt.

I would have it towed if you are taking it anywhere in that condition

14mm fine thread bolt with 19mm head. You won't find a replacement at Home Depot. Metric bolts at most hardware stores are coarse thread. 9/16" nut and bolt of similar length would be interchangeable. Ideally use a nylon locknut.

The leaf bolts like to loosen with off-road use. Happened to me at the front hanger. Remove the spare tire, jack up the truck by the frame to unload the leafs, then hammer the bolt back in.

Does anybody know what the nut size is? I see above 14mm fine thread, but just want to verify. I was under my truck tonight and found the same thing but on the left side. My bolts are still in but had moved some. The nut is gone. I have found what i believe to be the part I need on a Toyota parts website. Price is not bad and I need a few things anyway. Just hoping to pick up some local to get back on the road tomorrow.

    The part #s I found: 90179-14039 (nut)
    90201-14005 (washer)

I do not wheel in my truck. I can only wonder if the dealer did not install them or did not tighten/torque them when I had the frame sprayed during the recall. They jacked up a few things, so this is not outside the realm of posibility. Either that or someone who does wheel borrowed mine after shaking theirs loose.

This happened to me (after I installed OME rear leafs,) and the cause was lack of lock washer. After lifting and correct install of washer, about 2 yrs. ago, there have been no further issues. I an frequently on FWD type terrain

Damn, both sides? Good that the OP was playing Curious George and took the time to look around under the truck. Definitely get this corrected asap.

Got a nut and washer at Rural King today(2). That will hold until my OEM Toyota hardware arrives in a week or so.

You will need to unload the spring from the shackle by lifting the truck and setting on jack stands under the frame. Removed the rear tires and spare to gain more room around. Put your jack under the diff, move it up and and down and watch the bolt, what you need is to find the point where the bolt is out of the bind with the shackle and spring ear.

You need to coat the new bolt shank(not the thread) with some grease to prevent future rust.

Regarding the use of Toyota hardware, I honestly do not think they were torqued correctly after they replaced the springs during the recall. They will all be torqued to 89lbs when I am done. If they fall off again, I will go the route you did.
