This exact same thing happened to me a few days ago, also at 3am. My system screeches three times then yells FIRE! FIRE! It's hardwired and the backup batteries weren't that old, but I replaced them all anyway.

And when did 9v batteries get so damn expensive?

The batteries I put in mine were 10 yr rated 9volt batteries and were $15 each

I thought $6 for the 5 year Duracells was bad.

    Morning all

Those are smoke alarms? We use them to know when the food is done.

That's why I advise my customers to save the dust bonnets that come with them- if you do any cleaning or construction it keeps that from happening. The only other cause for false alarms is weak/dead back up batteries but they usually just chirp once not a long alarm. You can blow them out with an electronic type canned duster air.

so now I’ll say, most likely the construction on the fireplace we did. I blew out the units, then grabbed a vacuum and when vacuuming one in a stairwell above the room where all the construction was, the red led was flashing…I kept vacuuming until the red led stopped flashing….guessing that was the culprit.

Funny thing is, I do still have the bonnets :anonymous:

Mine DO NOT like the smoke alarms at all.... scares the crap out of them. They don’t hide, they want out and away from the noise

    I see 5....

About 41 months ago, so it seems.

Good evening everyone. The weekends always seem to go by entirely too quickly, it would be great if the work week went by at the same rate.

After about 5 weeks of almost constant rain, the ants have finally invaded my kitchen again. I've spray apple cider vinegar along the back splash and under the cabinets where they meet the wall, it doesn't seem to be slowing them down this time. I don't want to use harsh chemicals in the kitchen on food prep surfaces, does anyone have any tricks that work to repel/kill the ants?

Borax! Here is a great article. I’ve used borax for fleas, cockroaches, and ants. Boric acid which is normally available from the pharmacy is stronger. I used this in powder form around my baseboards when in LA and got rid of my cockroach problem. It does work on ants as well.

2nd loaf of almond flour banana bread because my sons lab helped herself to half a loaf off the counter this morning. New favorite recipe! Moist and flavorful.
