Dunno if your an auto or manual, but I enjoy the lower 4.7 gears with the manual. I know @Squeaky Penguin has the NWF also a 5 speed.

I had to piece mine together from different vendors to get what I needed, but no complaints with it.

I'm 5 speed. I like the idea of have 4.7 but without having any dual tcase experience I'm all ears to experiences. Especially if someone has ran both

So you don't have the tcase anymore? I say we pick November 1st 2024. Give @literallynothing a summer of fun.

Oh also I picked up a locked and geared waggy axle for the winter SAS. The guy threw in new Alcans springs, high steer Reid knuckles and another backup set of high steer knuckles and a bunch of other shit. Picked it all up for 900 bucks. My plan is to run 37s on it.

I think the fair thing to do based on my history would be to set the over/under date for the first dent to be November 1st 2024, and a second over/under date for when all hell breaks loose and me losing all care for the body of the truck to be some time in 2028

I am also 5 speed manual transmission and I do have an extra transfer case that I picked up from Yota Yard on Walnut in Denver for $100 just before they went out of business. It is in my garage if you need it. I was thinking about installing an extra transfer case but now I have reconsidered. I like the way my 99 Taco performs as it currently sits.
The green lettering looks like it says: 2000 V6 M/T Elocker no ABS.

Here is a link to @turbodb ‘s transfer case identification post. Hope it helps.

You're a funny guy, Noah. Those concepts don't bump.

I've run both in my 2nd gen. Hard argue the fact that 4.7s are more better. Always better to have the lower, slower gear option. That said, I rarely used 1st gear double low. It was unnecessarily slow for me for most situations, except that one time I lost my brakes at the top of black bear. The extra slow was literally a lifesaver that day.

I wrote a short dissertation on my thoughts, feelings, and experiences on ratios in another thread on marlin vs nwf:

Oh I do. It's in my shed until further notice. I left them together for incentive someone's purchase... but that didn't happen and now NWF for me.

Where did you find such a killer deal!? Sheeeesh. I think a d44 would be sufficient for 37s I can't see myself going larger than that. Thats where my homework has been leaning.

Precisely my logic. So I'm under in both cases.

This is great info. I'm a machinist by trade so it hurts to pay money for shitty machined by under paid talented people in 3rd world country products. At least nwf looks to have great quality. And 1600 bucks for the amount of machine time these have isn't unreasonable.

Fine I'll take the over... @literallynothing don't fuck it up.

Brian Cobain (thefatkid) is a good friend of mine/neighbor and he was telling me about the FB marketplace add when we were hanging. I definitely didn't want to spend the money on it now but a good deal is a good deal.

I stumbled over your post here^ after @TMFF egged me onto keeping the chain drive. Good comments and information. Made me confident in sticking to 2x 2.28 (or 2.57 whichever it is I'm at)
Only reason I'd end up with a 4.7 combo is if I end up with pass drop axle.

I had a 94 pickup with marlin duals, 4.7s in the rear, blah blah. I now have a 2nd gen and NWF duals with a 6 speed. I liked the 4.7's, but you can't get manual transmission dual case kits anymore.

basically, it works, but that 200:1 from the marlins was very nice. I have no regrets, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I still have a donor in my garage for a buddy who wants to do an NWF swap too.

I also dont wheel this truck as hard as my old SAS'd pickup, so there is that.
