Good morning fro StLouis area. At HQ for a couple days and then back to FL to finish the week.
Did anyone watch the Indy qualifying yesterday? Wow!
Fastest pole speed ever. 234.22 mph.
Team Penske swept the front row.
I’ve only been to the 500 twice. Truly is a spectacular event! :oldglory:

Attended Classic Motorcycle Day in Mt Airy, MD yesterday. Vendor count was way down, likely due to the rain Saturday and overcast threatening skies on Sunday but the bike show was impressive as always. This is a judged show with professional judging from what I understand. Thought I'd share a few pics.

1981 Kawasaki GPZ-750. This was the first bike I ever owned. Not this exact bike but one just like it and I never took any pics of mine much to my dismay.

    Couple from the sale area.
This year's featured marque was Italian Motorcycles.

I actually got to ride one of the Ducati 750F1 bikes once back in the late 80's. Race bike put on the street the one I rode had turn signals installed. It had simple velocity stacks on the carbs with screens over them for air filtration. At a stop if you blipped the throttle you could feel your pants leg being sucked in. Not comfortable for long but ungodly responsive.

Expensive day today. Went to Costco first thing and we managed to spend close to $600. But wifey assures me we needed all of it. Then I went and bought my annual fishing license. I’ve bought a fishing license every year since I turned 16 and they were required starting at 16. $81 for a basic license and a 2 rod stamp. I remember when they were under $10. I know when I get my hunting license in September it’ll be well over $100 with the federal duck stamp, state duck stamp, state upland stamp and deer tags. And finally the annual car registration arrived in the mail today. In excess of $500.
Think I’ll just kick back on the patio, pour myself a beer (haven’t had a beer since last summer) and think about days past when things were affordable.

    Evening all:

Here ya go Ken, here's a ballpark figure of what my fishing buddy Jim pays for his Pa hunting licenses (app. $150).

    Hunt. Lic.---------$20,97
    Furtakers Lic.----- 20.97
    Archery Lic.--------16.97
    Muzzleloader Lic.--11.97
    Mig. Bird Lic.--------3.97
    Fed. Duck Stamp--28.97
    Bear Lic.------------16.97
    Doe tag---------------6.97 (x1 or x2)
    Bobcat permit---------6.97
    Fisher permit----------6.97
    Otter permit-----------6.97

I don't think he gets these, but they would get him over $200
    Pheasant stamp------26.97
    DMAP doe tag---------10.97
    2nd spring gobbler----21.97

I have a lifetime Pa senior "combo" lic. that I think I paid around $150 for when I turned 65. I still need to pay for a migratory bird Lic., a federal duck stamp, bear Lic., doe tag/tags, the Bobcat, fisher, and Otter permits, the DMAP tag, and the second gobbler tag.
I get bear, 2 doe, and a DMAP doe, so need to fork out a little over $40 a year.
My buddy always says, "don't shoot a big bear, we'll never be able to get it out", I think he's right, as a matter of fact I know he's right!

Even in Pa. looks like my license and stamps would probably be a hundred or more. Hunting and fishing just ain’t cheap any more. My wife was born and raised in Pennsylvania (Lancaster area) and has told me how fabulous the hunting use to be in Pa. But like everywhere else nothing stays the same. A couple years when we were back there visiting she took me by where she grew up. Said there were pheasants everywhere around there when she was growing up. Now all the farm fields around there are housing. Doubt there’s a pheasant in the county.
Oh and I know well what you are saying about getting a large bear out. I havent hunted deer for a few years cause my back doesn’t allow me to haul much of a deer very far. I deer hunt at over 6000’ elevation in really rugged country. I’m going to give it another go later this year and see what happens. Hoping for the best.
