Installed some bumper caps from R4T. Had a dude ran a red light and hit me in January, insurance stated they couldn't get me into a body shop until July. Just took the money instead, took the bumper off, rerouted the fog lights, sprayed the crash bar. Waiting on a bumper, lift and bigger tires. Drivers in Denver Suck

After stopping to help someone out of a burning car, got myself an Amerex halotron extinguisher, same ones we use in our training aircraft
Going to mount it later this week on a DDI MMP

I'm not sure I would go with their lifts but, their lighting is Cree. I've used Cree in my buildings for years and they make a good product. I also don't need a million dollars in off road lighting to flex in the mall parking lot where I will do most of my wheeling.

I installed a set of JL C1-690s today.

Very happy with the performance. I compared the installed drivers side set against the passenger side original and there is a big difference in clarity. No more booming bass, much more punchy. It makes listening at higher volumes more pleasant. A great upgrade for those that want to just use the stock non-JBL head unit. I enjoyed trying them out so much I ran my battery down just listening to them after the install.

Not much to show, but the originals are very lightweight.

Cleaned up stock skid plates and tried to do something different on the main plate with some TRD color - should have just done straight sections of red, orange, and yellow instead of trying to follow contour of the plate in the middle. Oh well..maybe repaint it again in a year. 20240520_200725.jpg

I did new speakers all around a while back as well. Amazing how cheap those stock ones are and the magnets on them are mindblowingly small. That said, for as low rent as they are, they don't sound that bad. Not good, for sure. But just going by crap quality to sound reproduction, just saying, they sound better than they look. Adding the new head unit (Alpine Halo 11) is what really blew me out of the water.

This weekend, I yanked all the trim and seats out of the rear of the cab to start putting in Kilmat. I ran out and have to order more. But, it blew me out of the water how much the trim plastic and seats muffled the road sound. I decided to leave everything out until the rest of the Kilmat gets here tomorrow instead of putting it back in. 5 times on the way to work today I had to turn and look around because it sounded like there was an actual open gaping hole in the back. The road noise was nuts. Wasn't loud really, just sounded like I had a window open or something.

I am completely certain that the rocks beneath your truck will not notice nor care about the imperfections. Enjoy your splash of color!

The services you are missing out on, that you probably aren't really missing if you don't want them and/or didn't know you needed since you've never needed them before, include:
    • Health report (see example below)
    • Calling/connecting you to help if you have an accident
    • The ability to remote start your truck from anywhere on earth (key fob remote start works regardless when you are close enough; this works as long as your phone can connect to a cell signal)
    • The ability to remotely lock/unlock your doors
    • Checking the status of your truck (e.g., lock status, fuel level, mileage, etc.) remotely
    • Being reminded if you leave a door open or unlocked
    • Finding where you parked your truck
    • Etc.
Of course your actual brain also does many of these things. At least they don't charge you to use your heated seats like BMW, or extend your range like Tesla.

If you are interested in what is in your "health report" you can get it from the Toyota website owners area. An example is below. Nothing too earth shattering here.

I drove it pick up a few items from Home Depot and then stopped by the local GMC dealer on the way home. I've been wanting to look at Denali Yukons, but they had these electric Hummer trucks on the lot. Took this blue one for a spin on the freeway and around the block. I'm not an EV person, but this was pretty neat. I don't think it's worth the 110k they're asking on the sticker though. I'd prefer a Porsche for that kind of money. Soon...:burnrubber:

I guess my 2018 just missed the boat on all this shmancy connected car thingy :D
I’m very satisfied with my limited level of ‘connectedness’ tyvm.

Most important connectivity for me: hands connected to steering wheel, butt connected to seat, tires connected to road.
But I'm a geek so I like technology. As long as we have a choice.

No, but the salesman must've mentioned it about 10 times. I suppose pulling away from a curb it could come in handy.
