I would say yours is darker because of the material. Mine was never that dark, even when new

Good thought in asking for a sample. I’ve been curious about the twill, just not sure I’m willing to spring for new fabric or new topper. How are you liking the 3rd brake light? I have it sitting in the cart, just need to pull the trigger

Ok, I know it's not a softopper, but I checked out a company called Wildtop (https://www.wild-top.com/) at the Overland Expo West this weekend, and I really liked their product. I ordered one last night with their coupon, so I will update once it comes in and I get it installed.

They are basically a bed rack with a softopper mounted over it, but the quality seems far superior to softoppers to me. The zippers are crazy beefy, no snaps or buckles to break, and the windows feel way more durable. The only thing I didn't like was that windows cost an extra $200, but they said it is because they are made of a really expensive PVC material and they wanted to offer an entry level, cheaper option.

    We will see!

I'll get measurements when it comes in, it doesn't seem much different than my old camper shell though

One of the strongest features of the Softopper. for me, is that it can be folded down or removed by myself in less than five minutes. Less than ten to reinstall and erect.

With that, "I'm working on" a ladder rack that fits over the ST and STILL ALLOWS folding and removal of the ST. That is, quick removable cross bars on semi-fixed side frame. Trying for the best of all worlds ;-)

No wrong answer! I used to have a bestop supertop, and I found that I never needed to fold it, just take it off for large hauls or for taking stuff on long trips. This topper should be doable by myself, which is why I want it instead of my camper shell I had before.

Is this something we should know about?

Might put an end to all these "What color goes with my....." threads.

Color of the week? Color corrected for sun fade?

Hmmmm... I wonder it it's any good at all? White might be in this year!

Interesting idea! I've used this stuff on interior parts before with good very good results. Works great for things like fabrics where it can really soak in and bond. Works less well for things like smooth plastic pieces where good adhesion is harder to accomplish. I imagine this may work quite well on a Softopper.

Added third brake light using some leftover wiring and velcro I already had. Tapped into the taillight without actually tapping the wires - just pushed the wire into the existing rubber grommet. Cost <$14 CAD if you ignore that I initially paid for that wire and velcro for something else.

Really should've done this 4 years ago

Installed ST 3rd brake light with FBC harness. Took about an hour and straight forward

I just did it. It's not that difficult. Just depends on whether you want to tap into factory wiring or not

Appreciate it. I’m looking to do the T-harness so I don’t have to splice into the factory wiring, allowing me to easily revert back to stock.

With the proper tools (heat gun, wire strippers), and the FBC T harness, it was a piece of cake. I read this thread to make sure I hooked everything up right

Only lesson I learned would be keep everything organized. One of the heat shrink tubes rolled between my bed and tailgate when I wasn’t paying attention, and took me 10 minutes to find haha
