Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
I dont mind the general idea of it, but somewhere in the execution of it in the tacoma it can kill my leg.

I was a little curious so I checked the closest dealer to me. They have a couple of Pro-X trucks advertised at $38k.

It’s the number two choice of yard men around here, and those guys do zero maintenance.

I found a Tacticool green SV King Cab for 36 something in state. Pro 4x would be the better value.

How much the Pro 4Xs going for? They are knocking about $5+k off in my area so they are ranging between 38K to 44K. I don't see very many Pro X trucks here.

I was close to buying one last year SV king cab. I figured prices would go down slightly. Haven't looked at Titan, if some one wants a V8 with as little tech as possible this could be their opportunity.

I was about to buy the S access cab in 2022, but then I found my four-cylinder Tacoma with zero markup in Santa Rosa.

I think if I twisted the Nissan dealer’s arm hard enough he probably would’ve price matched the V6 to my four-cylinder.

I have only driven one 2022 Frontier, but I have to say I think it is nowhere near worth a purchase, and that doesn't matter what you're comparing it to. The reality of the "3rd gen" Frontier is that besides sheet metal, tech, and safety, it is the same damn truck as it replaced. The bad part is that Nissan raised the price of the "all new" truck significantly when it was released, and they didn't up their quality.

The quality of the last few years of the old gen was already pretty poor. I owned 2 2019s (one new auto and one used manual) and they both had significant quality issues. Poor fitment of panels, bad paint work, dash rattles, a brake line unthreaded from the ABS module on one of them, axle seal leaks, etc. It was a cheap truck, but for a reason. Other than that, I loved the platform. But a 2022 for what they are charging? Hell no. Even with the now 5-6K off MSRP, it's still a ripoff because the MSRP is way too high to begin with. I already wouldn't buy one because of the lack of manual transmission, but still, with how much they reused in the new gen, the price should be much lower than it is.

Also, the steering in the 2022 is pretty stiff. At the time I test drove one, I was in my first 2019 and the 2022 was noticeably heavier. I like a heavy feel to some extent, and the 2019 was good in that regard, but to me, the 2022 was too much.

Now, I would totally buy an older Frontier in the 2005-2008 range. Xterra too, they are badass. I'm not scared of the V6 timing chain issues, and they had no other problems on the manual transmission ones. I am constantly checking AutoTrader to see if I can add one to my fleet, but still haven't found anything good that isn't overpriced.

Seen some S King Cabs for 34k and under didn't check the drive train, but seen some in the high 20s must be Rwd S KC. That's my price range right their.

Seen those chevy commercials, I want it and can afford it? Affordable is great, but what do you get in today's $25k vehicle? I'd take the Frontier every day.

I'm on the fence, either wait and hope Toyota has some better financing options on a new Taco, or get a fully loaded Pro-4x for about $43k. I finally test drove a Pro-4x recently and really liked it.
