Hi everyone. I added a cap to my truck and didn't want to lose my cameras. I found this kit online. https://www.ggoffroad.com/store/p/digital-rearview-camera-relocation-kit-tundra-22-24-tacoma-24 and thought I'd give it a try. It worked great. You have to be willing to pull down your headliner and remove some panels, but it's worth it in the end. The job took me several hours, but as one of the first, I had to adapt Tundra instructions to make it work. If I had to do it knowing what I know now, it'd probably take me around 3 hours. If you're putting on a cap or a bed rack, this is a pretty good solution. The staff at ggoffroad.com is very helpful and answer questions quickly. I for sure recommend the product. I can see that. The nice thing about the relocation is if you're loaded up under your rack with camping gear, etc... you can still see behind you. That's one of the reasons I wanted it for my cap.

It's an ARE CX Evolve. So far so good except the time I had to spend pealing off all the ARE and Dealer stickers off the back :)

I paid $3900, but I added a bunch of options. I got Windoors, an option that unlocks with my fob, and a sliding window to match the one in my truck. I think they start at $3300.00

I love how this thread started to talk about the camera relocation but the cap ended up being the topic.

With that said.. i am surprised that toyota didn't put the camera on the tailgate unless this is a separate camera? sorry.. i dont know much about the features of the 4th gen

It is a completely different camera. The backup camera is in the bed like every other truck. The digital rearview is in the CHIMSL up buy the 3rd brake light. You flip a switch and it displays the camera feed in your rearview instead of being a mirror. It takes some getting used to, but I really love it now. Plus I can fill up my cap to the roof and still see behind me.

Ah yes, the digital rear view mirror. That makes sense, unless you want to see what is inside your cap the whole time while driving.

Thanks for posting this! I’ve been wondering what this exact mod would look like. Truck and topper look great.

I’d love to have the digi mirror in my next truck. I powered rear sliding window is a must have. Paying for an $8k+ package to get those items on an already high priced truck is a tough pill to swallow. I’m a die hard Toyota fanboy. Hopefully they start breaking up these packages as time goes on.

This is really great. I wanted to see if this was possible with my Gladiator because some of the campers you get for it replace the tailgate.

Great to hear this is possible on the Tacoma. I saved this thread to have it handy for when I get my Tacoma and put a camper on it, or topper or roof top tent whatever I do.. (Probably a RTT)

You mentioned it's by the third brake light. I can't seem to find any pictures. Where is that located on the truck?

This is actually a very good price.

I paid $3200 for my ARE in February of '17. It has windoors, tilt slider, aluminum inserts and folding T handle locks. Glad to hear not everything has gotten crazy expensive for, ...reasons.

    Looks great on your truck.

That would be fantastic, but nah. Mine ran me $1200 back in 2018. And that was 2nd hand pricing, which I was ecstatic to pay for a color matched lid.

Yeah, not for many years. A roof rack costs that much :)

On the top middle of the back of the cab. That's why it gets blocked by the cap

I have wondered how it looks for 4th gen with new shell... Looks great.

@bking3 ... You paid more than I did... mine was $3K. But mine is a Leer, though.

@Road_Warrior ... check this 4th gen with new shell! I like it in black like ours.
