i do want to change my bars thou.. the sweep feels odd to me so ill look around for new bars to swap it out with

I'm not a fan of sissy bars either but they do make a damn convenient spot to strap stuff on for commuting. There are bags out there also that feature a pocket on the back to slide over the sissy bar making them pretty stable for touring.

I know what you mean, this ride is very organized though and it's short less than 10 miles. We split off into smaller groups of around 7 with a designated lead rider, and people stationed at most of the turns directing you where to go. But yeah being around people you don't know their skill level so have to stay aware of that.

@FreshOldTaco nice shots! A Belstaff always works for DGR.

Tell me that 1000S isn't gorgeous! Nice that the guy caught it for the owner like that.

Your ride is run very differently. I like that 'small groups of 7' idea. Ours is 40 miles spread out over several hours, long break in the middle for group photo and kibitzing, then another gathering at the end for awards etc. Whole group the whole time. Definitely have to be willing to roll with adversity traveling through a city in that situation.

The awards. Done by a good friend and local artist.

My insurance on the bikes is as follows. All bikes have full coverage with $500 deductibles. It’s crazy how much the monkey is compared to the Klx . I also get a discount for paid in full which I do.
    Kymco scooter $57 per year
    Honda monkey $77 per year
    Klx300 $53 per year
    Yamaha FZ1 $109 per year

I just paid $775 for the year for my Tuono. Super cool that no one in CA allows installment payments. All up front.

$347/year for my Tuareg for 100/300/100 coverage with $0 deductibles. Great part of moving back up to Alaska is all my insurance costs are about half of what they were in Colorado. Having to pay into the insurance fund that covers half the state getting a car totaled by hail every few years is expensive.

I feel the same way.I prefer to ride alone or just one more person. But if the rides are well coordinated they are actually really fun.
We have the Realities Ride here every year, I've gone on 10 rides, except for the last two years due to monsoon rains.
There are hundreds of bikes of all flavors, the ride is broken into two groups with two different routes that converge about midway so both groups get to pass each other, it's quite the experience. Lots of stops along the way with vendors, food, hydration, etc. With all riders converging at a single location for the big after party. The burnout pit is one of my favorites to watch. There is a local bike shop that makes bank replacing tires that day.
Every corner/intersection has volunteers directing and the cops stop traffic at the busy intersections.
I have t-shirts, badges, patches, etc from every year I participated. They really start to mean something as the years roll by.

The year it made the Guinness Book of Records was a spectacular ride. Every rider carried a plastic card with some kind of wizardry inside. You were required to stop at every location and get off the bike and walk thru a sensor so the riders could be counted. You had to be counted at every stop to get the patch and badge.
Pretty sure the record could easily be broken again as the ride gets larger every year.
