I think I saw somewhere that the legroom hasn't changed or has grown. The illusion that the legroom has been reduced is because the seat horizontal width grew. So it looks like there is less room because the seat is bigger in the back also. I don't have the source on hand I feel like it was a youtuber who measured a bunch of stuff on a 3rd gen and a 4th gen.

Sat in the back of a 4th gen Taco yesterday. Felt similar to my 4th gen 4Runner rear seat space. Sufficient and I’m 6ft tall.

Ratio of torso to leg length. Not everyone who is 6' tall has the same length of legs...

If you need a lot of leg room in the backseats the Tacoma might not be the truck for you.

What does legroom have to do with safety?

I’m 5’10 and finally drove one today. My kids seat is one of the bigger ones (didn’t think about that when first purchased seats). Pic is of seat not strapped in.

Same seat in a 2023 CrewMax… I don’t think I can do it, unless I get smaller kid seats.

If you can’t think what the frame of that seat sitting just an inch or two from your legs could do in a serious accident, then well I hope someday you or someone close doesn’t have to find out the hard way.

I’m one of those people that pushes their seat way back. I’m 5’11” but my reach is pretty long. I also like to sit that way cus I see more in my peripheral vision.

If I wanna sit comfortably, there is pretty much no leg room in the back.

*cringe alert* but anyone compare the new gen Colorado rear seat room to this? I have one child with a third gen Taco and this really factors in for my decision someday.

The power sliding rear window looks like it's included in the packaged upgrades. It's included in the TRD OR upgrade package. Don't need to go to premium to get it

and sadly the rear seat room is smaller in our 2023 platinum CC vs our 2018 platinum CC. when we tested a new tacoma rear seat room, it was very painful to realize how small that rear seat is when you are used to a tundra rear seat room and even more so when compare to our 2016 tacoma rear seat room (perception wise)

Diono radian fits our trucks much better - i had to switch to one, as the convertible took up too much space.

    People today be like:

"mid size trucks have gotten too big! Make a small pickup again!"

    Also people today:

"Make the back seat bigger so NBA Centers can ride in the back!"

for us it wasnt legroom, it was seating spacing. width, length, height (elbow room so to speak), hence we went up to a tundra crew cab

it made a world of difference when the whole family (4) went on a 1700 mile trip to see grandma from ND to GA (especially the backseat room, when i had to nap while the son drove)
