When I rode motorcycles most others would stick out their pointer and middle finger as a kinda wave. Harleys would only do the wave to other Harleys. Todays crotch rocker riders for the most part don't get it. Only a few other Corvette drivers do the V wave.

The only wave i've noticed is the wave of emotionally sensitive and irrational people projecting their hurt feelings and entitlement nowadays. I don't take part in that wave either.

    The West Texas one-finger.

Hand rests at 12 noon. One single index finger is raised so that it's just visible above the dash line. It's the minimalist etiquette, and it's only done if you're between San Saba and El Paso. Everywhere else, you get fuck all from me.

    Yep.

Back when I was first married, driving down a county road, oncoming driver gives a wave. I wave back. (I’m from Ohio, wife is from Miami.)

    Wife: Who was that?
    Me: I don’t know.
Wife: Why did he wave at you?
Me: I don’t know. Just being friendly.
Wife: Why did you wave at him?
    Me: Just being friendly.
Wife: That doesn’t make any sense.
    Me: I know.

Nowadays, no one waves, and people think they are entitled to turn left in front of you when the light changes. They can f off; I’m punching it when the light turns green.

I never wave at other Tacoma drivers. Tacomas are very common trucks and a lot of owners aren't even enthusiasts.

If I'm in a sports car that's rare, then yeah I'll wave at another driver of that certain sports car

if you're familiar with the tail of the dragon road, i was once behind what was apparently a very fresh and overly-proud harley owner. for the full 11 miles, he drove the exact 20 mph speed limit on a big heavy bike, around all the curves, nearly falling over all by himself. to make matters even worse, he had to do the harley wave every time he saw another harley.

it also meant that many times, as he was nearly falling off the bike in the middle of a very sharp turn from the lack of centrifugal force, he'd insist on taking a hand off the bars to do the 'wave' at the oncoming harley rider.

at first, i was really frustrated being stuck behind the guy. but after about 5 miles, the frustration gave way to entertainment, watching for the moment he was going to fall off the bike...

jeep/taco/harley waves aren't for me. the majority of the public don't go on vehicle forums, so most times i'll end up waving to someone that just stares back. which is no fun.
