Agreed! And those awards are very cool!

Yeah I like the smaller group structure, traveling through the city you get split up anyways with all the traffic since roads aren't closed for us. The ride meets at a moto dealership then it's a short cruise into center city Philadelphia for a group photo after everyone is parked. Usually we ride back to the starting point but this year most were going out directly to lunch.

The first couple years it was a longer ride about 35 miles out of Philly heading north to a nice park by the Delaware River... but they've since shortened it. That was more fun to me, I don't like riding in the city I always head the opposite direction when out on my own.

My issue keeps being that weekend there is always something else going on and I simply can't do both or all 3 at the same time.

I generally don't do group rides myself either. I have done some in the past, even a parade once, but prefer to no longer take part in a rolling clusterf**k like that. I would consider making an exception for the DGR as I have a vintage bike that would fit quite well for the event.

agreed.. you get to much of a mix of riders and to me its sketchy.. im sure people behave on them but maan it only takes one to make it into a mess!

Partcularly the way that Philly did it, with small groups of 7 or so. And for only 10 miles. The potential for error is drastically reduced.

200 ppl for 40 miles, to @Calamity_taco point, one novice gets flustered at a red, and goes when they should stop, and it gets real in a hurry. there were definately many opportunities like that this weekend.

Having said that, in 12 years, we've never had anything but mechanical issues, thank goodness.

Speaking of insurance.... when I sold my grom I expected my moto insurance to go down when I removed it and be given at least a check for 30$ or so back (i think it ran ~50 for the year)... nope. Literally the exact same for the year due to less of a multi vehicle discount lol.

But cost isnt bad for high liability coverages, XT225 / WR450 dont have collision just comprehensive @ 100 deductable (as it wouldnt be worth it for collision for the xt225 and the WR450 isnt ridden on the road much if at all) but I do hold both comprehensive @ 100ded and collision @ 1000 ded on the Super Tenere. Grand total = 328 a year for the 3 bikes through progressive - The Super Tenere being 231 of that.

That's ridiculous. I pay $286, per year, two bikes.

Yeah. The kicker is that's not much more than the CB500X was. Less than a hundred buck's difference.

I just checked my coverage, paid it last month.
You are paying for way better coverage than I am. That's the difference.
Mine is so low, barely covers the ambulance ride. Prolly bleed out in the waiting room.
    Bodily injury is only $25,000/$50,000
Medical is only $5000. Might cover the cost of a cast, minus the ambulance ride.

Itchy Boots had an accident a few days ago, just now watched the episode. She's ok, but her trip is over for now.

Does anyone use wireless earbuds instead of earplugs? I don't want to use earplugs anymore because for some reason they flare up my tinnitus and was wondering if earbuds would be a good alternative to block most of the road noise and still be able to listen to my music.

I use my airpods in noise cancellation mode. I can still listen to music and hear the bike at the same time.

Those quite high liabilities paired with very high medical payout and that loooow collision deductible are all what is racking up that costs.

Do you have regular health insurance? If so and you are in an accident that will get used first before the vehicle insurance med payments as far as I know.

I do, but it's 80/20 at best. Some stuff is less coverage. I figure if I eat it on a bike I want as little financial headache as possible to accompany whatever physical injuries I sustain.
