jeep/taco/harley waves aren't for me. the majority of the public don't go on vehicle forums, so most times i'll end up waving to someone that just stares back. which is no fun.

Could almost have been me. Got passed at the beginning and end of that road by a guy on some sport bike. Yes, he passed me, zipped to the end, turned around, went all the way back the other direction, turned around, and caught up and passed me again. I didn’t wave. This all on my 1998 Honda Shadow Aero loaded with camping gear. Good times.

don't feel so bad. i was there with my brz. in the evening, the more experienced locals come out. i was booking it faster than i felt was safe, and got easily overtaken by a road train consisting of a base-model civic, subaru forester with car seats, and a chevy cruze. none of them were modified to even have things like tinted windows or aftermarket wheels. after i pulled off to let them pass, i realized i wasn't as fast as i thought i was!

Guy I don't know on the base I work on parked next to me this morning and asked in a friendly way why I didn't return his wave while we were in traffic. Seriously. I joked that if I were to wave at every Taco on the road I'd be at the hospital with a serious shoulder injury. I asked him how long he thought he could drive down any given road and NOT see a Taco. He got it then.

I rode motorcycles from 1976 until about 5 years ago (long story - two close calls and a voice in my ear said to hang that up) and the wave or two fingers down was always a thing, but you don't pass 5,000 motorcycles every time you're on the road either.

So, if you drive a Taco and wave at me, I likely won't see it and wouldn't return it anyway. It's doesn't mean I'm being an asshat or being unfriendly. It also doesn't mean I'm not admiring your Taco though. I look at all of them in passing.

I'm not too big into the wave either . Wife and I were on a road trip one time and went to see how many tacos we could get to wave and it ended up being 50/50. If it's obvious another taco waves I tend to wave back but not all the time .
