    Theres been a few videos posted that show the lock can be punched out with a screw driver in a matter of seconds. Hit it hard enough and the whole thing just pops out of place.

    Agreed. Theres two types of thieves;

    Type A steals on a whim without any planning. They see something so they take it. It's usually never planned ahead of time. Simple solutions like locking the tailgate only slow down or deter type A thieves.

    Type B plans it out. They know what they are looking for, and they know what they need to get to the job done quickly and efficiently. Once they come across a deterrent they find a way around it for next time. They'll order a $2 torx security bit off Amazon and problem solved. And in the case of our tailgates, those are type B thieves. Tailgate thieves are usually type B, same as catalytic converter thieves.

    granted most are type B of your scenario. But just like cat shields most of these crooks will just move on to the next if there is a deterrent. Looking for the quickest quietest target. Nothing works to stop them, but decent product helps to deter them. You might have the no tools tweaker in your area not the plan ahead criminal mastermind, and a cheap chineezium Amazon garbage lock COULD save your tailgate. And fuck them, Id rather try to deter than do nothing.

    just get a tonneau and rig a glitter and cat piss bomb to detonate with the drop of the tailgate, like they do for porch pirates.

    Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
    Brilliant! Officer O'Malley, tell him what he's won! And that's assuming you're awake at 3:18AM when they're stealing your tailgate. Thieves may be dumb, but they're smart enough to work when others sleep.

    Bilstein 6112 front / 5100 rear (extended) shocks, Headstrong AAL, Firestone airbags, 4.88 gears, OME Carrier bearing drop kit, Aluminum 1/4" skids (engine to transfer). Custom sliders (1.75" HREW tube w/ 3/16" base plates). Custom front bumper and high clearance rear bumper (1/4" steel plate, 1.75" tube.) Apex 5500 winch w/synthetic line (36lbs) and required accessories for an underpowered winch (snatch blocks and extra line.) Tekonsha P3 brake controller, remote start, any-time-backup camera w/ front facing camera, Leer 100R shell (w/e-track single slot tie-down mounts for removable Yakima EasyTop.) Cat shields by CaliRaised. Husky liners, window tint, heated seat (passenger only.) Relentless bed rail brackets with QuickFists (shovel/axe/fire extinguisher.) Hondo Garage Un-holey vent mount. Anytime rear with front facing camera. Billet front seat risers. Viair 88p. 265/75r16 Goodyear Ultra-terrain tires.

    This appears to be the superior solution imo. Using AR plate for the bracket instead of mild steel would be an improvement.

    Someone should manufacture pressurized mace in a flat(ish) bar shapes that can be included in security product designs (Because some shaitheads are inevitably going to use a sawzall on the bracket.)

    I have full coverage, just rig up something to go boom. I get a new taco from insurance because "they blew themselves up trying to break into my truck" and we have one less (maybe more) bags of douche on the streets.

    Christian06 device is worth the coinage to slow them down and maybe send them one house over (so many tacos on the streets anyway)

    There are a few of us that have mentioned Him, and of course you have the haters saying everything & anything I have his device on my tail gate I always keep it lock still, plus I have a DiamondBack switchback cover it's all lock up, I also use a milwaukee impact wrench to lock this bad boy in place, I also broke 2 bits trying to get the nut removed the first time, it's not as easy as the haters make it sound lol...
