Just keep throwin' money at it.
Anyone have experience with the amp'd winch mount? Looking for a 2nd gen hidden winch option. The 1st gen guys on the forum seem to like them, but not a ton of 2nd gen info about them.

I currently have an ARB, but I am debating dumping some weight (this would be about 70-80lbs lighter with a Warn 8k and synthetic line). Priorities for the truck have changed. I mainly use it for towing a drift boat, dump runs and camping, but want to keep my winch just in case.

I literally just installed this set up on my gen 2 last weekend. I can show you pictures if you want. For $360 to your door, you wont find a much cheaper option for a winch, and it is about as subtle as one can possibly be. I also bought a warn evo 8 on sale and a 35k lb synthetic line and swapped it immediately so it is effectively an 8s with a theoretically stronger line that wont cut me in half for about $400 total. All together, the winch weighs about 51 lbs + ampd up mount is 26 lbs... also cant get much lighter than that. No noticeable increase in nose dive upon braking.

You must replace your factory aluminum crush can, which some people view as bad but honestly the steel ampd up might do more to protect you and not shove into your radiator (though the winch might since it is so much closer). The product came within 4 days of order and I had to wire brush, sand, rust reform and coat it. Lots of mill scale/ surface rust. The mount itself seems very heavy duty, but one weakness I can potentially see is if winching downward with a lot of force or at an extreme angle, which you really shouldnt do anyway. There are massive bolts that go through the frame, but also the stud mount bolts above that from the aluminum crush can that get reused. Many people report this as a point of failure when winching for any bumper. Many place sell reinforcement brackets that would pair well with this product, but I am just going to watch my winch angles. I only winch about twice per year, so not often.

With the evo 8 I had JUST enough room to fit the control pack in the stock location without needing to move it. I mean JUST... maybe a quarter inch. Fit perfectly and works with gen 3 TRD IFS skid.

Let me know if you have any other questions or want pics of something in particular.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. That matches what I've read. People seem to be pretty happy with the design and weight.
