In drive-thru line at in-n-out in a 3rd gen queueing up an order.

With my 1st gen I'd use the e-brake to advance one car at a time.

Just discovered on my 3rd gen, when I pull up the e-brake it seems to lock the automatic transmission as if it were put in park before the e-brake is pulled up even a single click.

I stopped pulling the e-brake even when slowly moving forward to avoid damage. One caveat of this is that pulling e-brake power slides may also be a bad idea in 3gen with auto transmission.

What's the deal with the e-brake seeming to lock the drive shaft for AT, and has anybody disabled that?

In N Out - 6/10 It doesn't suck. But any endorsement more than that is hyperbole.
Whataburger - 5/10 Is it a burger joint or Jiffy Lube?
Five Gays - 4/10 About the same quality as In N Out at twice the price

Steak & Shake - 8/10 Triple bacon burger with all the fixins no condiments, plate of thin crispy fries and a real hand made milkshake. I tend to get the half & half shakes two flavors in one large old school soda fountain glass. Banana/Vanilla

I just learned about the crossed palm trees at In N Out. The movie was such a classic.

This is interesting. I remembered your post here, when I was at an In'n'Out yesterday, but I ordered "medium-well" instead of "light-well", cause I didn't remember it exactly word for word.

"medium-well" fries are definitely different from their standard cook, more crispy and a little cardboardy. I think In'N'Out fries are an acquired taste, like, you're supposed to enjoy their plainness because they are truly fresh, as one sees from the person running the potato-dicing press at each restaurant.

Next time I'll try ordering the fries "light-well."

I do admit that I still like the flavor & texture of McDonald's factory-produced flavoring-pre-infused flash-frozen fries better than In'N'Out, but the burger is the main event and on that count In'N'OUt womps all over McD's or BK. (And especially in the consistency & customer service area.)

Yeah, I'll even admit that McD's are probably the best fries out there. INO 'regular fries' are.... Nothing to write home about. Soggy.
I didn't know INO had a medium-well... I only knew of 'well' or 'light well'. 'Well' is too much... Roof shingles.
But an INO Double-Double Animal Style with both fresh/grilled onions just can't be beat (Sorry Whataburger!!!)
Although, (And only people who have lived in, or from LA will know) a double Tommy's Chile Cheese Burger is a real close 2nd! LOL

When I lived in LA and used to work downtown we'd go to the original location on Beverly and get our Tommy burgers.

While Tommy's is good, I really miss getting a Kingburger at Fatburger.

Last time I visited, 2 years ago, I went by that Tommy's to get a burger. I didn't stop though.... There was really scary and creepy-looking homeless freaks everywhere. I'm old enough now where I'm way more of a 'target' than a 'Better not mess with that guy'....
So I went to Philippe's and had a french dip instead...

    TL;DR: Light-Well is the Way.

    Screenshot 2024-05-23 at 4.05.25 PM.jpg

Another day, another delish In'N'Out lunch.

This time I ordered the fries "light well" -- a very big difference indeed. I can't believe they don't use "light well" as their standard cook. All these years I've been suffering with underdone In'N'OUt fries, and all I had to do was know to request them to be cooked the right way. They're easily 50% better-tasting/better texture at "light well" than the standard-issue cook. "Medium-well" is way too much, verging on overcooked.

I will always order "light well" fries in future and will look forward to them much more than the standard-issue In'N'Out fries.

Thanks for the heads up!... decades gone by.. hundreds of orders of In'N'OUt fries no doubt.. all underdone.. oh well.. water under the bridge..

    In'N'Out secret knowledge is power.

Answered the best I could but the list also needs whole grilled onions. I go with extra grilled onions and whole-grilled onions. with some chopped chilis

I mean, yeah, there are many good-tasting foods and dishes in this wide world.

But this little thread is In'N'Out-focused.

Based on the recommendation of this thread I ordered my fries "light well" to go along with my double-double and lemonade/7-up. This is the way, fries were perfectly crispy.
