I've tried to look into this but haven't really found an answer, so here we go. The inside edge of my rear tires show an odd wear pattern. Nothing really concerning just curious. I'm confident the axle housing is straight as this didn't happen with my old tires, to my knowledge, and I haven't bashed it over any rocks, yet. Also I'd assume if it where not straight, dog-walking, whatever that it would wear across the tread of the tire, not just the inside. Truck sits on OME Dakar leaves and the tires are 285/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac on stock wheels.IMG_9722.jpg

Having a hard time seeing any odd wear pattern.

Maybe I'm over thinking it, but that inner edge is discolored and rounded out a bit. Not really a big concern as I'm sure I'll get a decent amount of life out of them, just curious as to why

How many miles have you put on them? Keep an eye out and get them rotated early. Probably not a big deal.

I'd say just about 12,000 since I bought them and the previous guy only had a few hundred. They were near perfect when I got them. I guess it is time to rotate

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Looks more like wear from under/over inflation not alignment

Agree inflation may be the issue. I'd suggest the chalk test as that should shed light on how the tire is really wearing at the current PSI

What is that? Also, I recently added air to them so I might have just unknowingly solved it haha

So the chalk test is simply a procedure to determine the optimal tire pressure for even tire wear.

You take some sidewalk chalk and draw a line across your tire tread (ideally 1 front tire and 1 rear tire, make the line a couple inches wide). Then drive the truck a couple hundred yards over ideally flat asphalt with little to no turns, then get out and check how the lines look.

Wear in the middle of the tread (indicated by chalk being rubbed off only the middle of the chalk line) would indicate too much tire pressure.

While wear on the edges of the tread (with minimal chalk wear in the middle of the tread) would indicate too low of tire of pressure. You want to see even wearing off of the chalk line. Repeat the test, adjusting pressure, until you see that

On my truck ('03 Xtra Cab V6) I found 30/28 PSI (front/rear) to be my sweet spot with load range E KO2s

Confirm you have NOT rotated these heavy tires yet
Are the other 3 looking like funk as well?

Correct, have yet to rotate but I will this weekend. Only the rear 2 show this wear pattern

I had a set of these DTs in 15s
Rotated them routinely every 5k miles as close as possible to keep any wear evened out
Got 80k miles on them and still had decent tread depth but they start showing odd wear pattern like a cupping pattern?after awhile
I really like their performance in deeper snow and slush
And then it never snowed much for 2 years... Such a waste!

I have Michelins now that I pushed over 120k miles lmao
Force changed them before winter came
But the aggressive look is absent on them

The drone from the back of truck on certain freeway surfacing can be nauseous!

Yea when I first put them on I feared it was a wheel bearing or rear diff but realized it was just those

Wheel bearing up front might be a potential issue with these tires
I had two bearings on the driver side get roasted while these DT were on there
But the bearing did have almost 200k miles at routine high speeds (if it makes any difference not!)
And it is always the driver front tire that seems to hit the bad holes the semi trucks tear into the highway
It's like it's unavoidable and I see the hole right in front there and always seem to hit it lol
