My clutch squeaks like a mofo whenever I press on it, wonder if I have the same issue...

Other than that it works fine, but sounds like an old wooden door with dry hinges sometimes

My '99 had 190k-ish on its original clutch when Toyota bought it back from me, and it still worked perfectly. Had the standard Toyota Clutch lever squeak, no matter how many times I greased it, though.

I bought my 03 in 05 with 30k on it. It had a uhaul class 3 hitch mounted so I know it was towed with. The clutch started slipping at 60k.

I replaced the whole thing with a Sachs kit. Kit cost $300, local shop charged $600 for labor.

Then on the 2nd clutch at 480,000 the pilot bearing went out so replaced the clutch and all the bearings

180 k on mine,my clutch stuck to the floor when my fans were not running and it overheated. It came back up then stuck a few times then has been working fine since once it cooled down. Not sure whats going on, fluid overheating? If anyone has an idea let me know! Master cylinder?

    Fluid level good?

The clutch fluid is just brake fluid, that stuff can withstand pretty high temps...temps far greater than what an overheating engine sees. I don't think the overheating from the fan not working had anything to do with it.

If the fluid is really old and dark I would change it out too. May be good to bleed and replace the fluid for good measure in case there's any air in there causing intermittent issues

Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
swapped out at 165k for a marlin crawler kit. Completely rebuilt the R150F with OEM parts. Probably outlast the pickup. The Marlin clutch kit is awesome for off-roading.

depending on where the engagement point is during pedal travel you should be able to tell how thick the disc is... engages right off the carpet, you need a disc.

On the manual trans tranverse motored Ferraris I worked on 15k to 20k mileage was about average. Zero low end torque, you had to row these things to get them off the line. Not a city car at all.

Reading old threads on clutch replacements. Great info, thanks.

My 2000 v6 4x4 5 spd is going in tomorrow for a loud throw out bearing and clutch replacement. The main issue is the TOB, I think. But the truck has 406k on the original clutch unless the 1st owner replaced it at approx 22k (when I bought it from a dealer) Doubt it.

Since they will have things disassembled, I totally will have them put a new clutch in, but it was just starting to make squeaks occasionally. I do some 4x4 dirt here and there but nothing hard core.

The TOB is making a whirring grinding noise when the clutch is pushed in. Transmission goes into gear fine. Once in gear and driving, no noise. Started about a month ago.

Just finished new cats, timing belt plus associated work, etc. Here's hoping nothing else major comes along for a while!
Nice to hear from other 1st Gen owners out there...

as far as my limited knowledge (still learning about this!) on the clutch parts any TOB noise should Stop when the clutch is pushed in and only make chatter with clutch pedal released and in neutral
somebody please! educate me if i am incorrect

do you recall at all from that long ago time if the pilot bearing was replaced at 260k and if so then that one lasted another 220k?

were there any symptoms / diagnostics you recall that pointed to a pilot bearing being the issue?

I'll post back when I know more about what's happening with mine. I thought it was odd that my noise is only when the clutch is in, but I'm not a mechanic.

    @ab_1280

am curious about the occasional squeaks mentioned in your prior post

my rig started making odd squeaks at certain RPMs in around the 290k mile mark
it was undiagnosable at all the local proshops, transmission shops, yota dealershop
they have absolutely No Clue about it all with all of their 'training' and 'experience'
drove and shifted just find, cannot find A Thing wrong with it
    FML

are you getting a new flywheel or is it a wait-and-see on that part once its dismantled
its about a six hour task to get all of that out and back in... some places quoted me nine hours though
