Do you have a gas or electric water heater?

It's an AO Smith Electric one, found the Owners Manual with an Illustrated Parts Diagram. Seeing a thermostat and 2 heating elements as the possible culprits, they don't look too pricey thankfully.

I have no idea how it happened, but I remember hearing a loud noise on the highway; I suspect it was a stone kicked up by another vehicle. Thankfully, my insurance covers glass repair and replacement, and I have no deductible on comprehensive claims; I have already filed a claim, and they don't think the windshield will have to be replaced...

I hope they replace the windshield, honestly. It's got some scratches and pitting...

Insurance company is sending somebody out on the 29th; I could care less how they address it, because I am not paying for it, but I would rather they replace the windshield...

    Looks repairable.
Ideally anything over the size of a US Quarter, you'd want to replace. (My opinion)
But the last time I had a crack repaired, the guy said anything 2.5" in diameter, depending on location and type of crack, could be repaired.

Like you said, it is free. So let them decide.

    BTW, My deductible was $500.
My windshield was just over $250 installed (2014ish)

I have a $100 deductible for collision claims and no deductible for comprehensive claims, which includes deer strikes and glass...

I missed my final "Symmetry" moment before 200K because I was too busy talking to @Stitchgirl90 while driving her to work... :(

I hit 200K on the way from Amanda's work to my mechanic! Aside from burning a quart or so of oil every 2,500-4,000 miles, you would never know my truck had this many miles on it if you were to drive it with a piece of tape over the odometer!
