I use Skullcandy Dime 2 earbuds. They are cheap at only $25 and small enough to fit with helmet on and not cause excess pressure on my ears. I've taken a few calls on them while riding and the other person says sound quality is pretty good.

Edit: get a bright color in case they fall on the ground when you take your helmet off. Bright orange is a lot easier to find than black - ask me how I know. Haha.

Interesting. I never thought to try using the calling/voice feature when riding with my airpods.

I guess I'm the odd man out. I don't want any phone involvement in my rides. I ride to disconnect and get away. 100% unavailable if I'm on the bike.

I suspect the type of helmet matters. I wear Shoei helmets which have very little wind noise compared to other brands.

My Shoei is pretty noisy still but I suspect that's because my windscreen kicks the air straight into my forehead. Eventually I'll buy a clip on extension and that will probably solve the noise problem. Above 45mph the wind noise is enough that I have to wear earplugs.

kinda the same...I'll listen to music but won't take calls or if I know it's an important one, i'll answer to tell them I'll call back when done riding, or pullover if really urgent.

only other use for my phone when riding is navigation for work related purposes

in other news...my fairings arrived today! Might be another week or two to have them put on though, but I can't describe how excited I am to have the BMW parts all in, and have it fixed up very soon!

Didn’t end up riding today. Weather was iffy and did rain a little. My leg doesn’t hurt as much today except going up and down stairs and of course can’t squat down. When I try it still hurts but not as bad. I am ruling out a tear but most likely a serious pull/strain. The way it felt like a zipper when it happened was real weird and and really felt like something tore. I have never felt anything like it before.

@BkerChuck and @FreshOldTaco have been on the road for a bit now. I've checked the progress on and off today. They are getting close to the end. If I read the receipts right, maybe a bit over 24 hours on the road when they finish?

They're going to be cutting it close, for sure. They started at 1am and its now midnight there with a bit to go..

    upload_2024-5-24_20-53-40.png

Edit, google mapped it and they have like 20-25 minutes of riding left. Looks like they're going to do it!
