For the last couple 100 miles, the rear end of my truck has been squeeking and creeking like a mofo. Even just setting down and getting out of it. Getting worse and worse.

Decided to actually look into the problem today and noticed my leaf springs are cracked.

These are toast right? I have a 2" blocks in the rear. Any recomendations on rebulding these or affodable replacements?

They are toast, you don’t want to have one of those pieces go sideways on you… that would ruin your day.

Look into icon rxt and get rid of the blocks. @memario1214 can probably hook you up

I'd try to replace them as soon as possible.

    Mine did the same thing

I just replaced ds broken leaf. Used YouTube for guide.
    Painintheass job, but doable.
Check your block to see if it’s tapered. Put it back the same. Didn’t know this till after whole jobs done, not sure if I put mine in right or if it mattered.

Get the right sized ubolts, cut the old ones. Near impossible to save, and not recommended to reuse.

Was a recall on Tacoma rear springs doing just that but 05-11 only so you are probably out of luck for free. Any stock spring 4 packs up to 23 fit but no lift results from stock springs. Look like shocks are gone too.

Yea, I wish could do that. Unfortunetely, my VIN doesn't qualify.

Oh nice! Thank you. I'd have to look at the shackle and the rest of my assembly a little closer, to see if that's an option for me. Sometimes it is near impossible to uninstall these older parts without breaking or cutting (I live in WV lol).

Do you have a link to where you bought the replacement leaf/hardware? Incase I'm able to give that a shot.

Thanks for all the responses. I see some of you guys are pointing out the shock as well. I didn't notice that earlier when I was out there looking. But I'm not suprised. Truck is almost at 240k miles.

I started pricing leaf springs and shocks. Then noticed that I'm not far from paying the same amount as something like this OME 2-Inch lift kit. Which comes with springs and shocks for front and rear. That would also eliminate my puck lift.

Am I talking crazy? Just think it might be silly to put new shocks/springs back on pucks. When I could spend a few more $ and get rid of them with an actual lift kit. I already have high caster JBA UCAs. So I might even be able to go higher on the lift. But I like the height now. Going to take a day or two to price out some options.

You vin doesn’t qualify because you already have the “upgraded” leafs that are used to replace the 3 leaf sets. The “upgraded” leaf packs are trash as well. Mine shit the bed when they were 7 years old and had just over 80k on them. Either buy yourself a set of brand new or slightly used take offs from a 22-23 3rd gen for 100-200$ or buy a set of rtx’s as suggested above.

Or buy a complete set of 22-23 take offs from an off road that has coil springs, shocks and leaf springs for 300 or less.

You’ll net an inch of lift up front and be good to go for another 80-100k before those shit the bed.

Hey are you located in SoCal? I have a pair of stock leaf springs from my 3rd gen. only put 40k miles on 'em. Still in good shape

I just bought a single leaf from my local parts store.
But reading the replies, I better give a good look at my passenger side, in case it’s cracked too.

I'm interested, but I'm on east coast. I'd say they would be a PITA to ship.

Hell of a drive for cheap leafs. Costs would be a wash. I’d get a set from a junkyard local to you and start looking for used sets on marketplace, cl and here ( need 50 post to buy)

Where did you order from? Did you have to buy any other parts for the install? I'm looking at potentially replacing my stock leafs just because they are flat and seem worn out with 70k on them and a canopy on my truck 100% of the time.

Bought ‘em from a local spring shop along with new U bolts & fasteners. Install was pretty routine with no surprises. There was one other set that were even more robust but the spring guy talked me out of them. Said it would sit too high.

Absence of any bump stops probably lent to the early demise of the springs!
