Okay... I'd definitely find out if it's the bypass leaking rather than a cracked block.

BUT... if it is a cracked block it may not be the end of the world. There's a product called Silver Seal that's available... There are other products, but I'm not sure they work as well. Be sure to get the METAL FLAKES and not the other products that are made out of walnut shells. To do your job properly (as properly as a cracked block can be done) you need to disconnect the heater hoses and bypass the heater core. This is important, because you can plug your heater core with these block sealers.

Then follow the instructions on the container. After you've driven the truck for a few hundred miles, do a complete radiator flush and only then reconnect the heater hoses.

I've sealed blocks that were cracked with some good success, and ran the cars for years. I'd never sell one that was sealed this way, but at least you can run the truck and get good use out of it.

Years ago I read about someone who did this with a VW Rabbit. VW engine #1 under the hood as per normal, VW engine #2 under the rear hatch.

I remember reading about how it was ridiculously fast, and being 4WD with balanced weight distribution, actually handled well too.

Bottom line, I’m 100% in favor of you doing this mod. 296HP to the front wheels, plus another 296HP to the rear wheels.

The only downside is, the only thing that Taco will haul, is ass!

What is stopping you from driving the truck? A small coolant leak is not a death sentence.

 

As I remember; Vw did this to a GTI for pikes peak back in the day. 2 engines, AWD...

 

to properly come up with that diagnoses they would have had to remove the tranny to get a close look, did they do that?
removing the tranny is how they replace the crossover pipe.
if they did where are the pic's they should have taken.
only thing i can think of is pink corrosion NOT near or under the crossover pipe, and again where are the pis's.
are there any freeze plugs back there?

if the so called crack is seeping oil then still, PIC from them

 

Hey everyone, just want you thank you guys for helping me throughout all of this. I took it to another shop and they also found the crack. The area in the aluminum was described as “porous” which possibly could be a casting issue. I don’t experience any other issues other than the truck can’t hold coolant for very long and risk overheating, I also believe there’s air in the cooling system due to this which attributes to overheating. Not totally sure what to do yet just found out yesterday

If it's a casting problem with the block itself I would try reaching out to Toyota NA. It may be unlikely but they may do a goodwill repair since that is a major issue that is pretty serious and is clearly a manufacture issue
