    Business 101… lesson #27…

Never underprice introduction pricing of a new product. It’s far easier to lower msrp than raising it. With the added bonus of being able to offer “deep discounts” on an overpriced product.

In the end, very well paid marketing gurus will have you believing you’re getting a great deal, while the manufacturer is hitting their target pricing… and possibly even doing a bit better… stockholders demand it

Dealers can ask for any markup they want. We as buyers can individually determine how much we are willing to pay for a vehicle. If I wanted a Tundra Pro, I could have gotten one at MSRP $74,519. A couple of months ago an Oregon dealer had 2 Tundra Pros on their lot.

The guy doesn’t like certain features on the 2024 Pro. First, that’s perfectly ok, second, that has nothing to do with him owning a 2021 Pro. I mean, dude, they are different generations. Besides, he’s not knocking anyone, he’s just stating his personal taste. Perfectly valid posts and yet strangely triggering for you.

I bought a 2015 OR. I’ve posted that there are certain features on the 2024 OR that I’m not a fan of. Yet somehow no one said to me, “but you bought one”. This is a forum for discussion; amazingly people share their varied opinions here and that’s ok. Perhaps because that’s one of the main reasons forum exist.

    End rant.

You keep responding as if he owns the same vehicle, so I’ll say it again, he has a 2021 that does not have the features he stated he didn’t like on the 2024. Are you getting it yet?

I was thinking the same thing when I read that post. I had a Lexus nx300 for a bit in between my 18 Pro and now 24 offroad. Seems like some people had 300km on those turbo motors.

Cool. That wasn't the question I responded to or the point of my post. Thanks for tuning in.

    $80k for a Pro?

Sure, because of course there’s no better hedge against inflation than financing an extra $10-15k of markups on top of an already absurd sticker while financing at a silly interest rate, all while watching your truck depreciate like a rock while other dealers are offering cash on the hoods.

Having the means to do something, and being a bozo are not mutually exclusive ideas…

Doesn’t matter government will bail em out. The smart ones are living at the limit enjoying life’s pleasures.
The dumb ones will end up holding the bag once the smart ones will simply walk away from paying.

lol, then this will be for the benefit of everyone else. The reason @WiFiDoctor prefers a 2024 OR to a Pro is because there are features on the 2024 Pro (that are different from a 2021 Pro) that he doesn’t like. So his opinion is that, based on the specifics of a 2024 Pro, he would choose an OR and upgrade the suspension. A decision that did not apply to his 2021 Pro, which is a different generation and therefore different vehicle, and one that he happens to prefer over the 2021 OR. All personal preference. The suspension comment is directly connected to the comment about the 2024 Pro roof and interior.

Do I have that right, doctor?

    Indeed you do…..
That is exactly what I was saying. The black roof will make the truck too hot in the summers around here and the seats take up too much space rendering the rear seats unusable in my case…..

Ok, but the all that power and torque is pointless except to go fast. The truck still underperforms even compared to 1st Gen Tundra with significantly less power and torque.

Mid-size truck manufacturers/dealers are not pricing high-end trims for their typical connoisseur (us, the folks complaing about markups).

They are pricing for a different class of buyer: Overlanders with deep pockets and lots of friends to impress.

Think about it. There's an inherent need within overland communities to have the hottest rig, the best gear, the coolest stuff. Like having the best lunch box at school. Only now, these folks need a bad ass rig to feed their Instagram and YouTube subscribers with daily content.

This is who Toyota is selling Pro's and TH's to. Not you, Mr. or Ms. Ordinary with no followers. You don't provide free advertising, and fuel the fire for continued consumption of expensive goods.

    Shoo...go on, get.

Those seats alone make it a steal at 80k!
