My truck recently got inspected and they said there is either a cracked head or blown head gasket. Truck WAS running bad during start up and blew some smoke.. a month later, truck warms up fine again, never overheated doesnt blow anymore white smoke and now my check engine light went away. I'm sure it will come back but what gives? Should I keep driving it or sell it while it's good? It's an 02 3.4l

You should still pull the stored code(s) via OBD scanner. Even though the MIL light is off, whatever the code is will be stored in the ECU unless you recently unplugged the battery.

I'd just watch the coolant like a hawk.

If you get back to hard to starts.......I'd borescope each cylinder half hour after a hot engine sits...
its the two inside cylinders I'd pay close attention to 3/4...

even if you have a slight leak....there's nothing you can do about it........til you have to

If its a head gasket it will slowly get worse......if its a head crack(s) it will come and go.....and then one day, really GO...

I've personally seen people get 2 to 3 yrs out of a leaking head gasket....

And it could of been nothin......maybe shitty gas.

These can get codes, especially from the evap system that can come and go.

Ethanol is a plague, it can hold water...
if you get stuck using it ......run it out asap

Have you run a compression test on it? Any evidence of water in the oil or vice versa? Free if you do it yourself, not real expensive if a reputable mechanic does it.

I'm in one of those states where ethanol-free is available from a couple stations, in a lot of states it's really hard to find. Nothing else goes in this tank. :-D
