We had some nasty thunder, hail, lightning and a hard rain rioll through a little after 5 a.m. It woke me and the wife and sent our dog into panic mode. It was thnkfully quick moving. They say an EF0 (nothing for you in tornado alley) hit about 7 or 8 miles from where we live on Saturday. A few weeks ago an EF1 hit about 13 miles away. The local weather guy says this is the most active month for tornadoes in western PA in their recorded histiry. Thankfully, they have been nothing higher than an EF2.

Same here.... Some really heavy storms a few spinners in the area, nothing of real importance.

Some dead trees down here/there. Yard is a muddy mess now though. Gonna be hard to get any outside work done today.

As many as I can fabricate
Good morning folks. Quiet night here. Thought is going to be a ringer but nope, all is well.
Thought I'd drop a story from many years ago.
Y'all be safe and my thoughts and prayers are with all the families of my brothers and sisters in arms.
    Zim
I was stationed in Stuttgart Germany in the mid 90's for almost six years. One day I arrived home from work to find a woman sitting on the barracks steps outside my apartment. I started a conversation with her and found out her father had been declared "Dead, missing in action" during WWII. She had no idea when or where he was killed, or if his body was ever recovered. I told her I'd check on her story and see if I could find out some more information. I had some good contacts in Germany even being a Navy guy. I made calls to several "Army Mortuaries, hospitals, morgues etc and finally found a man that had worked for the Army as a civilian for decades and knew much more than anyone else I talked to. He gave me a number to a records center in Paris, France and said if there was any information they would have it.
The call was crazy eerie. A woman answered in French and I asked her if she spoke english and she said "of course". We talked about the missing Father who was a Capt. in the Army and she told me to hold on. I could here her walking across a giant room with wood floors that must have had all the records of these missing men and women. I heard her return and set down a massive book, paging through the many list of men and she stopped, lifted the phone and said "I found him" I was shocked. Almost cried. She said even tho the body was not recovered, his name was posted on the "Wall of the Missing" at the National Cemetery in Margraten, Netherlands.
My Dad was visiting at the time and when I told him the story he said let's go and see if we can find him. My Dad landed at Normandy on D Day so this was a chance to follow his trek through France, Belgium and Germany. The trip was awesome and sometimes tiring for him but we had a blast and we found the Captains Name on the "Wall of the Missing".
It was an emotional time for everyone and when we returned we told the woman of our findings. She was clearly emotional and grateful that we found "Dad".
I learned later on that she visited the cemetery to see the monument dedicated to her father and the thousands of others that never made it home.

Good morning all. Have a safe Memorial Day, and remember those who gave all, so that we might continue to enjoy America the Beautiful.

Hope no one suffered any damage from any of the tornadoes yesterday. My wife and I ended up driving home from church right through the edge of one that passed within 10 miles of our house, but no damage was done. Just horrendous pounding rain and high winds.

Here’s a little Memorial Day rainy car show Chuck @US Marine , all the Chevy cars were pulling out when we got there. There was a really nice “Sleeper Camaro” dark green that caught my eye, 68-69, no pic though.IMG_0004.jpg IMG_0003.jpg IMG_0002.jpg IMG_0001.jpg

Swing keel is back in the boat. Next is to get her back on the trailer. Then paint what I couldn’t when it was in dry dock and she’ll be ready to splash.

Good afternoon everyone. My area is under a severe T-storm alert, hopefully nothing damaging will happen. I hope that everyone else made it through the bad weather in their areas, it's been a crazy weekend for it.

@MTgirl seems to have found a quiet place to camp for a few days, I hope that it stays peaceful for you.

Tomorrow begins the work of removing the engine/trans from the firewood truck. I'm still trying to convince myself it's the right thing to do, LOL.
