olivia the minature horse

im learning like olivia. she may give nose rubs through fence then try and nip. ive got 3x face to face and kiss her nose. i havent had to bop her for attempts. just back up and say no in my deeper voice. shes making good progress.

 

i was face to face without incident. that was the happy from last text.like no fence barrier just personal reation time.

In conversation with my GF, she said in the early days of the airline she worked for Support Ponies had designated seating up front by the cockpit. It was in their policy manual.

 

ive seen that on utube. that would take some serious training. but after me driving her in the honda i bet takeoff wouldnt phase her. wonder how their ears do with elevation changes.

 

i have a new appreciation for how fast horses can move. we had the windows open in her barn and my gf said something semi loud outside. from inside barn she lept from inside past the ramp plus 3 feet. on more 8' leap and stopped like a magnet. this lil things entire leg is just past my knee and im not tall. easily twice as fast as i could run sprints in highschool. it was amazing seeing how she could launch and bound with such little legs. super cool.

 

hitching post front yard done.! its maybe 28" but great height for her. cedar logs i used my draw plane on a couple years ago when green and cut. hit it with the propane torch to make it weather/horse resistant. she like bugs hopefully wont get after it. set a foot down in concrete with gravel basalt top filling. should be great unless you see her image on a milk carton. guess i dated my age.

 

she was having a great time yesterday. gf will be gone 3 days. olivia hopefully doesnt geek out as im at work all day.

 

As long as She’s got food, water & shelter what more could she want. Make sure you get the GF to feed her a few times when she gets back. Still kinda early days & with all the stuff goin on, she’ll likely be still skiddish.

 

gf spends lots of time with her. i bet she will be fine. if anything even more excited to see me.

shes honestly 2/3 done and our weather is about to hit near 80 this next weekend. then ill push for a full shave and bath. its amazing how she doesnt smell after 2 weeks. horses are a surprisingly clean smelling creature. i wouldnt smell good after 2 days.

 

she got a wee bit chilled after walking in the rain today but when dried off she was all good.

 

my day trying my best. had a couple configurations to be appoved. we settled with this. got another 50ish to bolt up and a gate.

 

Hope the flies aren’t too bad once it get that warm. She’s pretty well equipped to deal with ‘em all the same.

 

we got these solar powered fly traps. gf idea. we really dont have bad fly problems in this area of the pacific nothwest. hope they dont get nasty later.

 

we have a spray we spritz her with daily too.

 

new weekend update. got her pasture fence done! she doesnt care to run unless i lead her. she just likes eating. made a 4x4' gate output with a cattle pannel arch for grape vines i just planted.
