Toyota TRD OEM lift kit

I’m going on about 3 years with the kit installed on my DCLB (set to top in front and icon AAL in rear). 0 issues and very happy with it. I did the install myself.

 

Don't forget to post a pic and list your tire size. I only went to 1.55" in the front when I installed mine but with I would have done 2".... I still thinkin about moving it up to 2".

 

Did you go with the 3/2 TRD lift or the 2/1 lift? I'm very interested in hearing how you like the kit because I'm considering adding one myself.

 

The 3/2 lift is a rough country spacer lift. The "TRD" lift kit is 2/1 and includes red trd branded bilstein 5100s all around with a 1" spacer in the rear plus a trd pro grill and TSS Garnish.

There is no other "Trd lift" from Toyota for a 3rd gen tacoma

 

Pretty sure thats for the 4th gen.

32ish thousand miles on my Dealer installed TRD Lift on DCLB. 265/65-16. im Happy Happy Happy..

 

Are you certain of your tire size? 265/65/16 would be smaller OD than stock, which isn’t what it looks like in your photograph.

That’s also a very unusual size….

Revisiting this lift kit for my '20 OR. I'm in the central (RTP) area of NC and had previously discussed with a dealer in Southern VA. Thought the correspondence was in my conversations but not there now. Anyway, looking for a recommendation for price/quality dealer. I work on my Taco myself for most things, not wanting to do this. Like the idea of dealer calibration since I'm going a tire size up as well as the lift.

 

2/1 and I have not had time to really drive it much. The day I picked it up we left on vacation. We took the wife's Honda Odyssey. I' m still sitting at Topsail Beach until Saturday. My Tacoma is sitting at home. I will post a photo early next week. I think it looks great though.

Tried to take some before/after pics today but my Nikon kept fogging up. Then the batteries ran out and now the whole camera just took a dump and froze up. The humidity has to be 99+ percent here. Anyway, I manage one clear image of the rear wheel and one fogged image...

I know these are terrible images but given the circumstances, it's the best I can manage at present. If this camera un-freezes I will give it another shot.

Also, the ride does seem more harsh than before. I feel it more on small bumps/potholes etc. If I had it to do over again I would probably keep the money in my pocket and leave it stock. I like the way it looks but not $2600 worth. Since it is all factory parts and labor maybe it won't lose as much value should I decide to trade/sell it later.

 

For Context: My 2021 SR5 with a TRD Lift Kit

275/70/17 Falken Wp AT3W on TRD T4R Pro Wheels 17x7 +4mm Offset. No rub at full lock, both in reverse and on incline. Perfect wheel size for this with close to 0 offset wheels. Stock uca and coils

I am interested in red springs and red ucas, but haven't done much research on options yet

 

Are the Tacoma fog lights a flood type and installing more focused beams could get around the issue where you're encouraged to delete them?

How well does the rear suspension perform with that block spacer?
Would this kit work okay for a medium load setup?

 

^Toyota's install sheet says to delete the fog lights in states where the vehicle laws restrict fog lights below a certain height on the vehicle; it is not related to beam pattern or aim. If your state doesn't have annual inspections that check this, feel free to put the OEM fog lights back in and reinstall the fuses. The OEM fog lights put out the correct fog beam pattern (flat and wide so you can see ditches in the fog).

The TRD Pro fog lights are physically lower on the bumper to remain compliant in all 50 states. Welcome to the baggage of OEM certification.

 

Most dealers ignore the fog light delete. Just tell them to leave them alone. My dealer left them as is
