bought brand new and was installed on my 95 to pair with the tundra big brake upgrade. early year tacomas have smaller diameter master piston which is too small to work well with tundra brakes. this is non abs version since i deleted abs at same time. $140cdn shipped for both

Couple things - I believe all pre-01 trucks had the 4 bolt booster with a 1” MC and subsequent years had a 2 bolt booster with 13/16” MC except for non-ABS trucks which stuck with the 1” MC / 4 bolt booster. It’s counter intuitive to think that the larger MC performed worse with the Tundra brakes but like you said, people preferred the 01-04 13/16 MC over the 95.5-00 1” MC.

I noticed you have a 2 bolt booster which is strange as you said it was non-abs and I had gotten a booster, pedal and a MC from a 01-04 truck brought out to me from a junkyard that was 4 bolt and dual diaphragm unlike your 2 bolt / single diaphragm. I had surmised that it was because it was a non-abs manual truck that it had the 4 bolt booster. Now maybe I’m guessing they brought the wrong part to me. Interesting.

One question I’m interested if you can answer though. Did you get your pre-01 brake pedal hooked up to the newer booster / MC without issue? I tried the same thing but got binding in the pedal regardless of pushrod length and even putting in a brake pedal from an 01-04 truck.

its been years since but you have me second guessing on the piston diameter. it was a common discussion at the time why the 01 master was better. this one gave me much better pedal feel. i never had any binding issues but the pedal did sit too low to the floor. i had to extend the clevis to get it exactly where i wanted.
