Hello all. Looking for some wisdom. A couple months ago I acquired a 2023 DCSB TRD Off Road in Lunar Rock with 12k miles. I love it, but unfortunately, I already regret not getting a long bed (this is my first truck, had an outback previously, want to be able to camp/have more versatility but still DC for family). I'm looking for some advice on a few things to move forward... or else, someone to tell me I'm crazy to already be looking to sell/trade in. For context, current truck was purchase with cash.

First, any advice on the best place to sell or trade in my current vehicle? It has 17xxx miles (daily driver), looking to get about $40,000.

Second, any advice for finding a DCLB? Prices seem to be all over the place... for example, a 2017 DCLB in Quicksand with 35k miles listed for $40,000? Is that a fair price? I'd love to find a 3rd gen DCLB with decent mileage, but prices seem to be all over the place (looking at FB marketplace, this forum, cars.com/autotrader/carvana, dealerships).

Thanks for any words of wisdom.

Keep what you have until you can find exactly what you want. Check on Carvana if you want an offer on what it's worth. I wouldn't pay 40K for a 2017, but that's just me, seems overpriced. Check out Tundra's why are you are looking around.

You are experiencing what everyone else is, crazy prices!
I don't think there were a lot of long beds made, and the ones that bought them, shopped the shit out of them and won't let them go. So a long bed may cost you dearly. The good news is; you won't loose much on your SB. No one can tell you the best place to sell and buy, you will have to shop and shop them both and pick the best option.
As far as buying- be prepared to search/travel out of state and be prepared to move extremely quickly.

That's why I picked up the access cab. I got no kids to haul around and honestly I've had several
people on a very few occasions fit just fine in the jump seats when needed.

I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
Keep it, still a mid-sized truck.. if you really need more space explore full size market.

    Is it a foot longer?
I thought the SB sas 5 and 1/2 and the LB was 6.
    Maybe not

I am wrong. They are 5 ft and 6 accordingly.
I'm not sure the extra foot is that big of a deal. Personally, when we shopped for our 21, I insisted on the SB for the purpose of shorter turning radius and what we intended to use the truck for.
If you really want to use a Tacoma as a truck, buy the Tundra! Tacomas are pushing weight capacity at 500 lbs.

40k for a 17 is crazy. More than it was new. 30k tops.

If I were to sell it I’d probably list my 23 DCLB in Lunar Rock for about $48k mainly because I have shell on it and I don’t want to go buy another car from the dealer so it’s worth more to me not to sell it. Good luck with the search, the long beds are def out there!

I can relate. When shopping for my Tacoma I really looked for a LBDC, but could never find one in the LR color and had to settle for DCSB LR. I still look periodically on the net and still haven’t been able to find one locally. Good luck OP wish you the best on whatever your outcome finds you.

Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.
I too can relate. Wife is 5'10" I'm 6' - I'd like to be able to sleep in the bed of the truck, but I wanted a stick shift. I lucked out on the Lunar Rock color - dealership had a trade in with some aftermarket parts coming in, and I waited for it.

Its so disrespectfully high on that owners price, i hope they dont get it unless its some overland machine with 30k in mods.
