I’m not believing what on the Internet, I’m believing what I’m seeing and what’s right in front of me. But yes, you do have to listen to the Internet somewhat. But more importantly, it’s the constant feedback being given right here on this forum that I have been involved in and listen to for the past 20 years. But I did test drove both, and I am a three time Tacoma sport owner so I am incredibly well hurst over most people in the world of the Toyota Tacoma. And I honestly think Toyota,‘s ego has gotten the better of them with the Tacoma and they’re asking too much for what they’re not giving.
Don’t get me wrong, it is still a really nice truck and the biggest improvement by far from the 3rd gen to the 4th gen is the four coil suspension system, but when you compare all the details between the Nissan frontier max four and the mid package Toyota Tacoma sport, I hate to say it, but the Nissan comes out on top and for almost 10 grand less

Your options are the glued-on ghetto 8" display that is worse than the 3rd gen or the glued-on 14" laptop LCD that will distract and obscure to no end. I'd probably go with the ghetto display, LOL.

The SR5 with the upgrade+cold weather package is the nice middle ground. Still get the 8" screen, but get the JBL system to bump those 80's favorites of yours.

Mine listed for 46 and some change, but was able to get it for a little over 44.

Nissan is also old tech though , not really apples to apples . Also I have seen several posts where tacos are already 5k off msrp

They also give you 48" + between the wheel wells, I can drop the tailgate.

Size is why for me, off-roading and easy maneuverability.

Ranger XLT is a serious problem for the Tacoma SR5.

Don’t buy one w/o test driving the other and if you still want the Tacoma, insist they give you a Nissan-sized discount.

Assuming you mean a Pro-4X. When you add tow and tech packages it's $43K. TRD Sport with upgrade package is $48.7K. $5,700 is not almost 10 grand. You can't add the $750 Fender audio upgrade (comparable to JBL) without adding a $2,100 leather package. Nissan doesn't have a heated steering wheel or trailer brake controller and probably a few other things. I'd call it a 5K difference just doing a on-paper comparison. How they look and feel inside, how they drive, personal styling preference, and perceived reliability could easily make that 5K a bargain. Depends on the individual.

That I'm not so happy about. I'm hoping to see car prices across the board drop. Going to be too many sitting on lots with these prices I would think.

The 14” screen doesn’t obstruct anything except the dashboard behind it. The dash slopes down from front to back to create the illusion of the screen being taller but it’s not. It’s the same height as the portion of dash over the gauges and about the same height as the base of the windshield. Unless your eye level is below the top of the steering wheel you have a full 100% unobstructed view of the entire windshield.

Why are we adding packages to the Pro4x? Trying to match features? Also it does have a heated steering wheel.

OP compared Pro-4X to "mid package" Tacoma Sport - sounds like they were trying to make them comparatively equipped. Need to add pro and tow packages to Pro-4X to do that. Heated wheel/seats? Nissan's configurator is as bad as Toyota's.

Not to mention 5k extra hit on deprecation after a couple years if you get the Frontier.
