Reading these threads really makes me feel like I have not broken my truck in yet. This is the first truck I have owned and I am so close to having it paid off with less than 70k miles on it. Sitting around doing school work for the last 2 years helped out a lot. However, once I graduate in DEC 2020 (hell yeah) I'll be putting miles back on it. I think once it is paid for and I'm working again, I am gonna grab a Jeep for the weekends and keep this till it just dies. By the look of the thread, that should be awhile.

taco's have a hard time dying....I just bought a 1998 4 banger taco 4x2 with 330k on the odo & it runs pretty darn good for a 22 yr old truck with original power train

I am going to have to agree based on my experience of having owned both so far. I really enjoyed my jeep, but would not rely on it after about 150k. I really enjoy my Taco and owe just under $5k on it. It will be the longest I have owned a car in my life. LOL. And the first one I actually paid off. I had a bad habit of changing cars about every 30,000 miles. Going back to college, having another child, and the VA fitting one with a Service dog was a lot in one year, so new cars went out the window. LOL. I sold my 370 Z and got the Tacoma and I have really enjoyed it. The worse the situation, the better it does.

Makes me feel like I really bought the right truck. Once I graduate in Dec 2020, I'll be headed back to work and it will be time to modify! I can't wait.

Removed those Shin blasters, added some nice 20” wheels, and slowly looking to level the SR5 in the front.
I posted about this already, BUT... I sold My 2006 Pre- Runner and I miss it already. the Driver's Seat is the only thing keeping me from Selling this 2020 Taco. I could have driven that 06 to 400K probably. It never gave me any problems, I just got a good price for it, and was able to get a used 2020 with another car's trade in. I would Not jump to 3rd Gen unless you have to. I do not know what the 4th Gen will Bring... but Hopefully the 4.0L will come back.

    Quite the revival.

The 4.0 would never come back. Car companies don't bring back aged technology that is inefficient.

    @Chiloquin_Car_Care you still around?

You are right. Everything has to be efficient. I am sure there are those who thought the 4.0 was not efficient. But Reliable! I will take that.

Sure thing! let's see some pics of the Tundra. I got a 2020 Tundra back in late 2019 so I've been on Tundras.com instead of over here most of the time.

You can tell your tire prices was pre covid. Would be over double the cost for those tires now /:

    Sold it several years back
Engine chain tensioner needed replacing at 395k miles....decided to sell it instead of repairing....dude from SF bought it for $10k
He was a mechanic & planned to swap tensioner & keep driving it

I bet it's still running beautiful
    I miss my 2013 taco!
    Best truck/auto I ever owned

    I got a 2021 taco soon after I sold the gen 2
    20211126_073256.jpg

Then in Jan 2022 I jumped into the new tundra....got nearly 100k on the gen3 tundra atm
