Legit Overhead Door question- in a snowy climate, would you consider steel or fiberglass for a large, 16’ garage door? Either will be on an opener so weight’s not an issue. I’m more concerned about rust and any other considerations you might come up with. Thanks!

Good point, this is an unheated Carraige House. I wasn’t thinking of insulated because it would be the only component in the whole building that would be

I think the aluminum would be lighter. Less work for the opener over time

Clopay garage door's they have insulation ones. Most garage door manufacturer's make insulated door panels. Just get the most insulated one you can afford and if you want to put more in the panel then home depot has the sheets for you.

I'd go with whichever is cheapest, either should hold up well.

    Ours are insulated aluminum.
Edit: I see you don't need insulation. I'd be concerned about rust with steel, especially if salt is afoot. :bananadead:

Yeah, that’s a concern. It’s a north facing door we clean off completely but even then, dents and scratches take their toll.

Insulated is a better built door. Much more resistant to dents. That's what I went with on my garage, albeit it's only 9' wide and 6'9" tall.
