I went out in traffic on Memorial Day for the first time in like 30 years. It surprised me how everything seemed to be in slow motion on the bike, compared to driving in a car. Not to mention... how BIG most vehicles are these days. Also had to remind myself I'm not on a bicycle so I need to take up the full lane, hang with traffic, and avoid other drivers' blind spots.

Had a guy do similar to me on Monday. Sent an offer to buy an '08 Suzuki GS500F for stupid cheap (was going to build a scrambler with it), had an agreement and then the guy went silent. Little bit later the bike was marked as sold without even the courtesy of a message saying he sold it. People are just dicks.

Sedici seems like a nice helmet for the price. I tried a few of them on at the local Cycle Gear. Sales guy said they are in-house CG/Revzilla brand made by LS-2.

I caved and got another dog a few months ago. I hadn't really planned on it for all the same reasons but ended up complicating my life again with one.

Same. worst decision I've made in a long time. And I've completely fallen for her. And she's catching frisbee's like a pro at 8 months.

I know Brodie would approve. I'm a mess if I'm not bitching about having to wait on someone pre-coffee at 5:30 am everyday.

that's so lame. I'm convinced they do that without warning so that you can't review them as a scummy seller. Integrity is lacking these days.

I have luckily found a better deal that I'm planning on picking up tomorrow. Went to check it out yesterday and the seller seems like a decent dude, and confirmed so fingers crossed on the home stretch

Sir, my pup is 80lbs on a good day and extremely suspicious of moving machinery

on the topic of dogs, i love mine. wouldn't trade him for the world, 9 years strong and still full of life. definitely have to plan around him frequently but I don't mind it. Don't think I'll get another anytime soon/if ever when he goes though, not because of the obligation or responsibilities. Saying goodbye is hard, plain and simple.

Don't they do free replacements on their gear within 2 years as well if you crash or simply wear it out? maybe I'm misremembering

    Well I’m an idiot…:

    IMG_3725.jpg

Felt a bit of grinding while using the rear brake on the way home so I pulled the pads and yikes.

I’m just not going to ride the S10 till I get all the parts in and do the valve adjustment, brakes and everything else at once. Rotor looks like it has some light scoring but since it’s the rear brake I’m going to run with it for now and hope it will be OK.

Also I’ve never had a bike eat it’s rear pads in 24k miles but it’s also a heavy bike with linked brakes and I use the rears more than the fronts anyways.

24k seems like pretty good life...I got 20k on my BMW before replacing. linked brakes, though I do use the rears quite a bit.

A lot of people never use it it seems.

I think I got about 15K on my last set of rears on my BMW. I could have gone longer on the pads but the rotor was below spec so I replaced both. I'm guessing my winter riding and general infrequency of washing didn't help with the lifespan of the pads hah. Same though, I use the rear more than the front for normal around town riding.

Yeah the super tenere likes to go through rear pads QUICK due to how aggressive the unified braking is with the rear brake input. I swapped to my new rear tire the other day, ~5-6k miles since i put it on and the same amount of time on a set of tusk rear brake pads... the pads are almost ready to be replaced!!!! I was surprised but then aggressive riding and the linked setup on a HEAVY bike will do that.

Super tenere has unified braking which will add in rear brake with just the front lever pull (so long as you arent already on the rear brake first).

Oh, the bike is so crusty right now from my Denver trip last month. The rear axle was almost seized on even though I always put grease on it while installing the rear wheel. There’s some surface rust on some of the surfaces I need to sand down and re-grease.

I’ve been riding this thing hard and honestly kind of neglecting it maintenance wise other than oil changes so I am going to give it the down time it deserves and try and fix up everything at once. In the mean time I’ll start riding the KTM more.

Speaking of which, I suited up today to ride the KTM to work and… it wouldnt start. Had to take off all my gear and take the truck to work lol

Got your money's worth out of those pads. I actually keep a spare set of rear pads in my personal inventory as spares. Seeing how quickly the ST eats them it might be worth considering.

i believe that's how the S1Ks work as well, they call them "integral" brakes lol. Rear brake is activated with just a front brake pull, with the caveat that if some sensor or other decides that you're about to give enough rear brake to lock up, or just braking hard enough with the front to not receive any benefit, the pressure in the pedal drops and it goes spongy. pretty unnerving the first few times not knowing what was happening lol. It's like a precursor to the ABS system. But there's also ABS so idk why they have both. added safety maybe?

Seems the integral brakes are pretty common across most BMW's actually
